In this video I thought I'd quickly go over the flip flop and counter modulators and show a few ways they can be used. They are very useful for practical things like physical modeling, but also creative uses. Check it out and if you have any questions leave them below.

This is great, the use of the arp really shows off the potential uses for this. Great video.
Makes me wish those 'special' modulators were available in standard modulators when using the Envelope mode (each trigger 'on' being the trigger obviously), or possible a module within MXXX itself somehow. There's all this cool stuff going into MSF that I wish were available to benefit the effects where possible.

Yes, they are pretty neat, but it could have been even better. In my Feature Request for "counters" I even described using the ARP-Position as Modulation Source... And I described a counter module which by combining with a Math Module using the "Modulo" or "Div" Operation could have been setup to any count you like, let's say you feed a counter into a "Mod 16" source and you'll get the numbers [0, 15] ... Anyway the counters is pretty much fun and a valuable addition.vectorwarrior wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2020 3:20 pm This is great, the use of the arp really shows off the potential uses for this. ^^^DITTO!!
My dream: Someday Vojtech will wake up with an new passion: MIDI!
Inside MSF/MPS…
And on it's own; MCCGen is so revolutionary! But why stop there?!?
Meanwhile we can but rejoice that the rest of the plugin world (Unify, Architect, HGSounds, CherryAudio, Reason, Toybox/Reaktor, Scaler…) seems to be recognizing how underdeveloped this part of digital music-making actually has been and how powerfully the simplest sorts of things can be to revitalize the stuff we've always had. As in Unify's MIDIBox, which FINALLY notices, eg, that double and half time for MIDI syncing is pretty damn tired and offers 16/1 times to 1/16th times for MIDI File playback. We've already got something WAY better even than that in all the LFOs: the Count Slider, not to mention the Advanced treasure chest. But no MIDI or trigger functions to apply them to…
If MSF just had a MIDI File player module, for any sort of MIDI recordings, fully modulateable of course, jeez, what incredible new things could be done INSIDE MSF. Or even some way to simply send MIDI out from the MDrummer module…

Ah, it's SO useful to have this sort of light occasionally shed on the more obscure corners of the MSF universe, THANK you, Chandler, our flash-light bearer:)! (So many remaining ones, just in the various grid module menus alone…)Chandlerhimself wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2020 2:20 pm In this video I thought I'd quickly go over the flip flop and counter modulators …

The current midi renaissance is just the start.
FR: For MSF to be able to host midi fx (vsti midi fx).

Speaking about Counters ... Following patch is close to what I had in mind when I proposed the counters.
It's an Arp where each note comes from a different source. It's not exactly a "single/pure" source because I was not able to find a input-selector device where a note counter exactly only selects one input and routes it to the output. Here I have used the ratio multi.
Try this patch with for instance holding down c1-c2-c3

I know this is an old thread, but did this ever happen? "If MSF just had a MIDI File player module..."
