How to invert phase in Waveform 12 ?

In previous versions I inverted phase of my mikrophone signals with the EQ plugin.
I really like the new 8 Band EQ, but I miss the phase invert option.
Or am I just blind?

The volume/pan plugin actually has a polarity switch but you have to search for it. It shows up in the control panel when the control panel is set to "useful" mode and it is also in the Actions thingy.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Thank you! 🙂👍

It will also show up in the actions menu if you click on the volume/pan plugin.

Another option.. the new Mono utility plugin allows you to invert phase on Left and Right separately.

Results on that might be unpredictable (in terms of unexpected phase cancellation) but it's a great idea to mess with that and see what you get! I must remember to try this. I very much like the A-B switch and am using it for automating guitar stomp box switching.

While polarity is in the amplitude domain, phase is in the time domain. Two microphones picking up the same signal are a specific distance apart at any given time. This can easily result in a slight timing difference of when the two microphones pick up the same sound. Depending on the exact timing difference and the frequencies involved, this could cause one of the two microphones to experience phase cancellation with the other when the sounds from the two are mixed together.

If you have a stereo recording made with two microphones in such a configuration, the separate polarity inversion option for the left and right channels provides the opportunity to attempt to correct some of the cancellation which might have otherwise been caused by the distance between the to microphones (as well as an opportunity to create new phase cancellation where it was previously missing, of course).

It can be found in the Control Panel as well as the Actions tab.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The #1 most useful thing you will ever learn to do is click the up arrow to expand the Control Panel.

In case anyone cares, the old 4 band eq with phase invert is still there, in Waveform/Legacy plugins.

Honestly, I'm down for that! I like having a little thing right there on the track. There is also this which I just discovered. I'm sure you know about it, but just for posterity's sake:

1. Hover over the track you want to check the polarity on

2. At the top in the middle of the track there is a little box that says "FX"

3. click on that little box and select "add clip effect"

4. Scroll down to where is says "phase invert"

5. *Perfecto

I appreciate this SOO MUCH! Thank you!!

You just have to watch what you really want. Setting on the clip FX is ONLY for the clip, and not the track - so if you have multiple non-copied clips, you might have some inverted and some not; while the TRACK setting one on the volume control will be for all clips in the track.
