Then you can't buy it and download.
....or authorize (even if you have it).
if you have it then just backup it:
~/.config/Algonaut/Atlas/license2.dat
Probably is machine ID specific, so once you buy a new computer or reinstall the operating system, it probably wont work.
Very possible, but I don't care, because I'm not an opensource purist (or whatever), i'm just buying and use good things.
I'm not an open source purist either, but I like to protect my investments after being burned (and seeing others burned) so many times in the past 20 years.

Another late-comer to the party. I never understood why people rave about Atlas all the time, but it all becomes clear when using it. A truly wonderful plugin. What amazes me is how insanely good the random kit function is. I've just spent a couple of weeks sampling my Elektron Analog Rytm and after throwing Atlas the samples - incredible kits came out that I would never have thought of. Usually I'm really sceptical about randomizers but this thing is truly inspirational.

the sequencer and interface are why i bought Atlas. i like coming up w/ideas in it.. then if i want i can drag and drop midi to a track in a DAW.

i didn't care at all for the sequencer in XO. not that it isn't capable i just find it cumbersome. the sequencer in Atlas is way more fun imo. and the random stuff is gold for me.

Is there a way to find a similar sound to the one in using? Say I have a dirty sampled kick and I want to find all the similar kicks in the map, I there a way to do that? I know Sononym has a find similar button that does that

Is Atlas 2 still worth it considering Waves already released the free Cosmos?

Yes, the new update allows search filters. Works well too

I just picked it up today. Quite fun seeing this brain shaped set of samples. I think it will be a great tool for building kits. Such an absolute bargain.

I also absolutely love that it has a standalone version - just being able to fire it up to build kits will really help me keep focused on just that.

I definitely have a few suggestions/bits of feedback about the sequencer. It's great, but I immediately found a few things could be smoother:
  • dedicated M and S on each track would be very helpful, having to expand to mute is a pain
  • to also have M and S buttons on the grid would also be nice
  • I wish there was an option for volume grid to be pinned to top or bottom and always be in the same place and/or to allow multiple lanes to be expanded at the same time
  • I wondered if there could be a slightly higher res graphic for the wave forms (when open full screen)
  • I wonder if they can look at Bitwig where there is a sample editor, which you can then add fx after, felt a bit backwards in Atlas with things like pitch and filter on the left, but the waveform across to the right
  • I could only see a single shuffle option, I wonder if they can add a deeper control for this with more of a groove thing happening, and also allow this per track/lane
All smallish workflow tools really. Had blast trying it out briefly, can see it being really fun to use.

edit:

Oh - and - I did have one thought - which is if really using AI to organise - can they also allow AI to create morphing tables between two different drum sounds? Would be so cool to take two different sounds and get an auto generated smooth wavetable between the two to choose samples from.

as much fun as the 'earth' and 'galaxy' views are (and they are fun), the list view is really helpful. glad to see that added; am really loving this plugin.

the mono/stereo options idea above is a good suggestion for next update...

I read the M & S suggestion as mute & solo ...

If there ever is an Algonaut Atlas version 3, then I hope it's sequencer gets developed a lot further. It is such an amazingly powerful concept. I wish it had per step microshifting so that we could add some nuance and human feel to it all. Just rip all the basic per step controls from FL Studio and it'd be awesome!

That would be sweet!
I'm hoping for an Elektron inspired sequencer someday :)

Yes, was meaning mute and solo.

Mind you a mono button could also be quite neat.

d'oh! but right-clicking on a pad (or pads) mutes/unmutes.

still, i want a mono-stereo option; sometimes i just work from a stereo out but might want the snare mono, or the kick, or... whatever.
