Sure, a good joke quickly gets boring when repeated. On the other hand, a bad joke only gets funnier the more it is repeated. This joke is very bad, and thus is starting to get very funny!Cabinfever wrote:ever been around kids, you know the little ones about 5 or six years old ?
you know how when one makes a joke all the other little kids keep repeating it over and over again thinking that it'll be just as funny ?
This time it's for real: T2 has been announced for february

It's cool that you still find it funny, but it looks as though most of the users think this joke has already peaked and now it's starting to stink.. it'd be considerate if people gave it a rest.

jens: if you really believe i voted more than once: would it make any difference to you and the way you behave on the board if you knew all the votes were genuine?

o.k. - you got me: the answer is 'no'
after all it's people like Cabinfever and TonyVanDam who voted 'no'
If someone right now had a problem with Tracktion or had a question about Tracktion - who would be the ones to answer & help?
Oh yes - it would probably be Cabinfever - he usually posts like hell in this forum
Let's just do a search for the massive amount of helpful posts he made:
Wait a minute - that's only three posts!
I'm sure it must be more...
Probably the search-function is broken once again...
anyway: you surely get my point

Cabinfever wrote:i am looking at the tracktion demo now after a recommendation
it looks sleek and clean and i agree with the previous comments that no extra synths and effects are needed. there are dozens of these everywhere and always more pouring in.
but a good and stable and ergonomic host to handle midi and audio is hard to find. this is the good path.

i understand.
But whether or not cabinfever (or i) answer lots of posts.. we are still users of the forum. I read it almost every day, for example. Are you only prepared to consider people's complaints if they post here a lot?
What about users who have just joined after getting the NFR version? are their opinions also not worth considering?

for me definetely not as much worth as the opinions of those people who keep this forum alive - if all the people who have fun in the 'hoax'-threads you're criticizing would stay away this forum would be a graveyard...cbit wrote:i understand.

yeah, i can understand that too.
I agree that while there's nothing really happening in tracktionland it's good that there's some kind of activity still going on in the forum.
But does this _have_ to be in the form of hoax posts? (when you know that some, maybe more than half, the users find it annoying?)
yeahyeah, i know i'm a big sucker
, but it's disappointing each time i find out that T2 _isn't_ ready yet (while im pretty much desperate for certain features).

I've got to say, as probably one of the highest volume posters in this forum, both good and bad[1], if this forum was as quiet as say the TF forums are, I'd quickly forget to check it. I don't come to KvR for any other reason.
If I stopped coming, I'd stop helping people too. I doubt I'm the only one of the regulars for whom this is true, and I think you can see how that would pan out.
Are the hoax threads annoying? Maybe. Are all of the "they gave tracktion away free, I'm pissed" threads annoying? They're on topic, but they give an even less good view of Tracktion, since most of the posts in the threads seem to be by idiots intent on spreading misinformation.
This is KvR afterall. If you want serious Tracktion support, go to the mackie site. Whilst there is a Tracktion forum on KvR there will be KvR style threads, in-jokes, and general post-womblery. Good or bad? That's up to you, but the aternative isn't necessarily better.
[1] hint: my post count is at least 70% from this forum

post womblery lol!
the difference between the hoax threads and the ones where people grumble about tracktion being given away for free, is that you know exactly what to expect when you click on the latter. You can choose whether or not to try to inform the poster, and you're not being deliberately mislead.
Do you really need the hoax threads to keep this place interesting enough to visit?

Maybe by posting some more 'real female rack' pics we can get ppl viewing the forum as well...as long as it increases the traffic it's all good, isn't it? Let's see how far ppl can carry this view to other forums as well. How about a thread started with "Ben is dead", then maybe "Rene is dead", then "Squid is dead"?
I'm sure ppl can always find a kindergaten not away from their house and enroll there.
Poor taste is poor taste. Unfortunately, there's no way to argue over taste preference. But at least some kind of netiquette still should be honored as the base of communication.

this will all fade and become a distant memory... I have to admit to liking the random explosions of utter nonsense and obtuse'isms (a new word) around here. Allthough, we definately run the jokes in to the ground(hog)
(sorry, I couldn't resist).
you all!
