+1 for mute & solo buttons on the pads and tracks.
This would be a big plus imo, its very hard to remember different control codes across multiple apps and VSTs.

I wish it had per step microshifting so that we could add some nuance and human feel to it all. Just rip all the basic per step controls from FL Studio and it'd be awesome!
Advanced sample options do this

And a volume and pan bar if there’s room on the pad.
So all quick mixing can be done from the pads….
Saves a lot of mousing around..

No it doesn't. What I was asking for was PER STEP timing offsets, in the sequencer.

The advanced sample options page of course only allows you to edit the sample itself.. shifting it's timing but it is not per step and is completely separate of the sequencer. That is a HUGE difference.

The only sort of workaround is duplicating the channel and then having separate timings for each individual identical sample and in that way abuse the setting but that is completely useless in a more complex arrangement.

I should have only quoted this:

"so that we could add some nuance and human feel to it all."

It does do that.

I am super impressed with this software. Made a beat, pulled the MIDI in (with some shuffle on it) and it had micro timing and nuances already in the MIDI, at least in Ableton. I made a groove template out of the MIDI and its been really easy to get a locked in groove going.

Also for some Elektron workflow, I add some extra fill hits in the MIDI I dragged in and then adjust the probability. So it basically lets me make a drum pattern that always has little fills and transitions happening. Once I get it feeling good, I hit record on all the 16 outs and print to audio.

This may have changed my workflow for track creation. Its that good.

.. not really. You can add random variation to pitch and volume but that is only a tiny part of creating human feeling grooves. To actually make good grooves, you mainly need timing variety and not of the random sort. You need control over slightly lagged hits and the ability to add nuances that are controlled. Randomization can add a tiny bit more feel but in my opinion it very seldom works. A good human drummer doesn't play random notes.. they play extremely precise notes that are exactly where they need to be to be grooving. :)

It’s too soon to show off just yet but there’s more coming in the next update with all that. I’ll try and post some previews before the sale is over.

Have you used Geist? Is the sequencer in FLS more robust when it comes to drum programming? I've only demoed FLS and I don't remember right now.

Is there a way to lock pads and have them stay locked while choosing saved drum kits?
