Ridiculous CPU hit ..... because 'nothing in this world is for free'

Even if you buy something it can turn out to be shit , but in 2022 there is nothing offered for free that does not carry some big caveat/catch somewhere, somehow.

If you want quality you have to pay for it.

I'm getting crackles on every preset I've tried.
Can't even get one note to play without CPU maxing out.
Maybe they'll fix it :?

Haven't installed this yet but how on earth can this possibly use so much CPU as some here claim? Isn't this a sample based instrument?

AFAIK its sample based. I'm thinking its broken and they'll fix it (hopefully). I have nothing that's as cpu heavy as this is. Its maxing my CPU in Live by just loading it up.

Sounds pretty good from the demos and will get use alongside all my paid kontakt libraries. And you can't beat free!

Not always true.

Yeah, and the rest of us didn't even need to spend hours beta testing and making presets to get it for nothing! :P
I get paid for every preset I make. Lol It's my job, not a hobby. :tu:

It's sampled based plus granular/additive/wavetable/analogue.

i only did a quick test drive with it, with MPE, cpu is quite normal, for these kind of plugins, i assume.
but must drive it better, no MPE mapping (EDIT: some presets, or most will react, but you can't map them yourself?).. but it is an intro..

I’ve uninstalled it, cpu load is exceptionally high (ASIO load as measured by Cubase on a Ryzen 5950x can hit 40% with 16 polyphony at 256 sample latency on RME Raydat) GUI is full of wasted space, samples can’t be relocated or specified that I can see.

Sonically interesting but not worth the compromises.

Layer a sample string library with pigments or other synth and add a verb that can do shimmer and other types and you’ve got the gist.

So roughly like Pigments3 - only aligned to strings and adjusted in the frontend? This could explain the higher CPU usage, compared to "sampled-only" patches in Kontakt.

Even with higher CPU, i think it`s a great tool (and probably series), specially for such kind of sounds. With the mutation of samples, wavetable, additive etc vs sample-only as most of the times, there is more creative freedom and space for more organic sounds. :tu:

Exactly. But it's even more than that. TWICE that, at least, actually. I can't say anything that isn't seen in this "INTRO" version. All I can say, at this time, is that people can not see what is going on behind the front panel - at the moment. Thinking this is just a sample player is wrong, it's augmented (with at least 1 synth engine) :hihi: and lots of modulation to morph the sound with the macros.

It's also supposed to be "synthetic-organic" sounding, lots of (my) patches react well to velocity/aftertouch/mod wheel in combination with the macros. It does have higher CPU hit than basic synths or sample players, but I think the sound is very high quality. :D

Agreed - laziness masquerading as wisdom.

What a great freebie, agree with others that the sound is very good, and there's some instant classic patches like Cello Harmonics. On the CPU / GPU useage - some of the latter must be connected with the trippy animations on the user interface that movie subtly as you play. That can be turned off in settings, and that does sort of reduce the GPU overhead. I get this weird effect then though that the GPU reduces as you play, but is still pretty much as high as it was on idle. CPU use is high too. Here's hoping this is something that can be improved in an update, otherwise it does limit its overall usefulness.

One other thing to note - once installed, the product doesn't appear in Analog Lab. That's a pretty solid steer that this is a new range that won't ever appear in the V Collection. I suspect the full version will open up the controls under the hood and add a lot more presets, and I think we're looking at the start of a new range.

(Analog Lab is not a brilliant name really, since digital synths old and modern appear in it, from the Fairlight to Pigments)
