Rendering a track to a project issue ?

So I upgraded to W12. And I tried it for the first time over the weekend. I started a new project with one track and THu Guitar plugin. I just hit record and just practice playing guitar. So I came up with this cool riff and had dialed in an amp sound I liked for that riff in THu (amp sim). I decided to select the clip and render it (passing through the plugin) by adding it to the project as a new track. After that, I hit record and started playing again. I came up with a very cool riff and hit stop to render it. Well !!! Even though I hit record to continue recording on the original track, Waveform didnt record !! The timeline moved as if it was recording and I could hear the guitar, but it just didnt record the track ? Been using Tracktion since 3 so Im not new to using it. I restarted Waveform and everything worked fine. But after rendering another selected section of a Track, the same thing happened. I restarted Waveform and it started actually recording the audio again. Thinking maybe the guitar plugin was the culprit I removed it. I tried rendering by adding another track again and the same thing. It renders the audio, adds it to another track, but when hitting record again, the timeline moves, I can monitor the sound, but Waveform doesn't record the audio. Any others having this rendering issue ? Works fine in other version of Waveform ?

I've had a couple of anomalous situations like that so far with v12, where I thought I was recording...but nothing recorded but silence. And yes, quitting and restarting Waveform seems to correct the issue. As of yesterday, I was close to making the connection that it isn't something I'm doing...and your note above made me rethink that it's something weirder.

On a similar vein, I've been noticing my recordings often contain a lot of static that seems to pulse in time with the BPM of the project. Again, quitting and restarting seems to solve the issue. I was initially blaming my audio interface, but there's no way it knows the BPM of a project--so it's something odd going on with v12.

Based on your note, Bushmaster, I'm going to start taking notes as to when/how often each occurs.

Edited to add: Also, I had one case where I wanted to have a track set its audio input to the output of a track above it (to render a MIDI track into audio)...and no matter how many times I tried, it just would NOT do it. Everything worked normally, but the track would not display the input. Again, quitting and restarting seemed to fix it.

It's almost like the audio engine needs to be reset every so often.

Thanks for the input. I feel your pain on the restart issue. I finally have time to record some stuff, been busy. But yeah, resetting works. But thats not a good way to record :) You think your recording, the program says its recording, but noooooooo . You lost everything !!!

I think this issue was supposed to be fixed in version 12.0.54. Just out of curiosity, which version is this issue happening on ?

I believe I've got 12.0.53 on Windows.

Not sure. Will check today. I update regularly, but maybe Im behind.

Looks like you will either have to record your project at 44100hz or else upgrade to 12.0.54 see this post viewtopic.php?t=580790

12.0.54 in Beta section at the moment.

I have 12.0.53 . It even did it by just deleting several tracks at the same time. I will grab the beta version and see if it fixes it.

Grabbed the Beta version and the issue is gone. Hope to play some more with it this afternoon. Thanks for the heads-up on the beta version fixing the issue.
