Thanks! I think this means I'm good. I'd like to know if others disagree though.emikaela wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 12:57 pmbehold! so prescribeth the book of rulez:] Peter:H [ wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 8:24 amThe keepers of the great book of the OSC rulez shall speak their verdict - Is Bit Reduction heresy?
"Distortion: Please use distortion / tape saturation / bit crushing sparingly. Use your best judgement. Try to keep the original sound recognizable. Note that this does not apply if the distortion is built in to the synth."

Hello! This is my submission for the KVR One Synth Challenge, using only instances of the Surrealistic MG-1 Plus Plugin.
I received the e-mail about it a few days ago, and it hit close to home. My first synth was the Radio Shack Realistic MG-1, that I bought in 1983. Back then, every day was a one-synth challenge, because it's all I had!
DAW used is Apple Logic Pro. Instances: 36. Effects used (all native): a pinch of distortion and parallel compression sent to busses (sparingly), EQ on a couple of tracks, and Logic's AdLimiter on the 2 Bus to catch peaks. Enjoy!

Hello everybody! This is my very first time here so I don't even know if I'm posting my submission in the right place (if no, please tell me what should I do).
So, "H-Extinction" is the tune I made for the MG-1 Plus Challenge.
24 channels/instruments/instances, each one carefully modeled on the great MG-1. Including Bass, Percussions, Leads, Fx, etc.
Ableton Live 10. I used some delay, reverb and some compression for a couple of boom fx and a Wide Stereo Bus for the master track (all native).
Well, that's all! Thank you and enjoy!

Dear friends of this cosy community. No ambient music by me this time. It's an eclectic mixture of styles. Working with this Cherry Audio baby was an enormous lot of fun. The MG-1 has a great sound under the hood. Hope you will enjoy my entry.

Hi everyone this is a cool competition to be limited to 1 synth and a limited selection of plugins and effects we can use. I am still fairly new to making music and the terms used in the rules and am hoping to get some confirmation on the effects I am currently using are ok before I go too far and need to change things. I am using Ableton Live with a mix of and 3rd-party.
They are Auto Filter (mostly for LPF and HPF), compressor (side-chained), Reverb, Delay ( I am thinking this may not be ok?), Valhalla Supermassive ( is this true for Valhalla too?),Utility (for mixing gain) and an arpeggiator. I am likely to use some EQ and maybe saturation too.

Hi BrainBeat. Welcome! Ableton Live native plugins are OK to use. 3-rd party plugins only if those are non-commercial free ones. I am not sure about this Auto Filter as it may change the typical sound of the synth like chorus and phaser. Why use the Auto Filter anyway? The synth has a filter. All other ones are OK but be sparse with the modulation parameters of the reverb and the delay. Also be sparse with the saturation as this also may affect the sound of the synth. The ground rule is to only use plugins that don't change the typical character a synth produces. Have fun and lots of success!

I am. Sure about modulated filters, that is. They fall squarely into the modulation effects category and are as such off limits. The Sound Of Merlin wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 6:12 am ...I am not sure about this Auto Filter as it may change the typical sound of the synth like chorus and phaser...
Exactly ! Very true ! So, welcome and good luck to you !BrainBeatMusic wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 2:07 am Hi everyone this is a cool competition to be limited to 1 synth and a limited selection of plugins and effects we can use.

Here is my contribution. For some reason I was not able to get such warm and nice sounds from MG-1 as the other competitors. However I hope you like the tune!

Hello everyone,
Here is my small contribution. I had that synth in my collection for months, but hadn't take the time to really discover it.
The first thing I did to build the track was to connect an Akai Midimix and use its CC emitting habilities to play with the synth's parameters. It was a real part of fun, as Cherry Audio keeps it easy and clear.
The track is built in Bandlab Cakewalk, using 9 instances of the synth. I used only a few effects (MCompressor to give some punch to the drums, NastyDLAMkII to spice a little up hi hats and percussions, and finally a quite short reverb - MCharmVerb - and dbx165a emulation - dlm sixtyfive a to strengthen the output).
First of all, it was a pleasure, particularly when playing the lead (as a pianist, real time play is always the goal I look after).
I'm only a hobbyist, please don't shoot...

Also this is my first KVR Contest participation. Please tell me if there is anything wrong, thank's !
