I just had a hunt around but couldn't find the thing. It can't be that many years old though. Essentially, they were talking about how they would spend a day just finding sounds and then processing them with no aim to include them in a track - just to make them sound cool on their own. Then on another day, when building a track, they will look in these sound design folders and pull out samples to use. There was a lot of brass and you can hear those characteristics in certain dnb sounds. Layering that with a sub will create some nice harmonic expressions.
The whole note or expression wouldn't be used but some short articulation would be cut out and re-enveloped in a variety of ways. I'm sure they were just sampling stuff out of Kontakt. Unless this was a fever dream.
