Multiparameter bug in MSF?

I have a MSF patch with a modular grid in the generator section - inside that are two oscillators - I am controlling the pitch with a multiparam of the modular. I am then controlling that multiparam with a multiparam from the full MSF instance.
Changing the pitch via the modular multiparam is fine - changing it via the multiparam that controls the multiparam cause glitches and noise.
I have tried with and without enabling Controls MPs in the settings, and I have also tried to control the oscillator inside the modular directly with the full instance multiparam - same problem both times.
Here is a video of the issue:

It also only happens when I am modulating the pitch of the oscillator via another oscillator

By chance, have you tried renaming the higher-level MP? Also, it might be helpful if you post screenshots of your settings for each MP (both levels). Other than that, I feel like I saw something about this recently but can't remember. Might have just been Controls MPs.

I believe the newest update does it! its a great new UI change!vanerio wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 6:21 pm Hi!
I don´t know how to help you with that. But could you please tell me how to show multiparameters listed like that, it is very nice!
Thanks!

I just tried renaming - didnt help unfortunately,Hexspa wrote: Mon Apr 18, 2022 11:37 am By chance, have you tried renaming the higher-level MP? Here is the "outer MP" (above, the one that controls the other MP), and the "inner MP" (below)

Yeah, I think this might have something to do with it. You mean your Generate Custom Modulation modules? I just set up a basic routing - I'm not used to this level of nesting - and I can change the oscillator pitch fine from either level.someone89a wrote: Sun Apr 17, 2022 11:10 pm It also only happens when I am modulating the pitch of the oscillator via another oscillator
The thing is when using an 'outer' MP, you have two choices to control in 'inner' MP: Genetator/ModularEX/Param X(name) and also Genetator/ModularEX/MultiParameters/Param X(no name). Maybe you can try the other one.
That's all I really have for you - don't want to send you on a wild goose chase. Like I said, this is past my level of familiarity with the instrument. Hopefully you get it sorted. On behalf of future me, thank you for breaking this so I won't have to

unfortunately the "Genetator/ModularEX/MultiParameters/Param X(no name)" one doesnt actually allow for the modulation of the parameter?Hexspa wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 10:23 pmThe thing is when using an 'outer' MP, you have two choices to control in 'inner' MP: Genetator/ModularEX/Param X(name) and also Genetator/ModularEX/MultiParameters/Param X(no name). either way I'm gonna rethink my design because whats likely happening (maybe Vojtech could confirm this) is that the "Generate Custom Modulation" are having to be re-instantiated every time the parameter changes, causing the glitches.

but... even if that was the case... why does it work when using the multiparams of the nested modular grid...?

I can kind of hear what is happening... everytime a multiparameter from the full patch is changed (the 'outer' mp), the processing for the individual "modular" modules are seemingly restarted when Generate Custom Mods are used... whether this is intended behaviour or a bug, I am unsure. It feels like it should be totally viable to nest more complex patches in one another without a degradation of any quality - coming from a Max MSP background where nesting is almost necessary.

You can modulate parameters inside the MP but maybe not the MP 'knob' itself. I made a little 'follow along' patch but, really, I'm not familiar with this particular workflow. Hopefully you get this resolved!someone89a wrote: Thu Apr 21, 2022 8:20 pmunfortunately the "Genetator/ModularEX/MultiParameters/Param X(no name)" one doesnt actually allow for the modulation of the parameter?Hexspa wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 10:23 pmThe thing is when using an 'outer' MP, you have two choices to control in 'inner' MP: Genetator/ModularEX/Param X(name) and also Genetator/ModularEX/MultiParameters/Param X(no name). You can definitely set the "knob" value (set the value and the knob follows along). You can do this with either a modulator or another MP. The target that you need to select to do this is right near the top and easy to find. I'm not at my DAW and it's been a while since I played around in this area - otherwise I could be a little more specific. But as I said, it should be pretty easy to figure out.Hexspa wrote: Fri Apr 22, 2022 3:11 pm You can modulate parameters inside the MP but maybe not the MP 'knob' itself.

Hi dmbaer, thanks for chiming in. I think OP had originally tried that. The reason I said what I did was to point out the other option which doesn't 'move the knob'. His video shows the 'inner' MP moving in his nested ModularEX instance. I'm pretty sure that's what's happening, anyway.dmbaer wrote: Fri Apr 22, 2022 8:28 pmYou can definitely set the "knob" value (set the value and the knob follows along).
