FR - Clip-Launch mode ala Ableton, BitWig etc

Any chance in future of a clip-launch matrix mode Ala Ableton, Bigwig, Logic, Digital Performer, Gadget, Fantom, you name it? ( every sequencer benefits from a clip-launch mode... imho )
Adding a decent clip-launch view/page etc would seriuously interest me in considering Waveform. Providing it/your DAW supports the gapless thing... like Ableton.
Linear sequencers arent exactly fun for play.
Or is there something in Waveform that does the same job as Session page but in a different manner/metaphor?

I am pretty sure I heard one of the guys on a youtube video before saying a clip launcher would come eventually. Considering Mulab 9 and also Mixbus 8 (and Ardour 7) are getting clip launchers now it would be quite hard to imagine Waveform won't have one fairly soon as it's becoming a standard workflow thing.
I just upgraded to 12 and personally prefer the path they took with this update with all of the midi and piano roll improvements they've made. No idea what the next iteration will bring but I'd imagine a clip launch can't be far off as all the competitors have it.

Not all competitors have it. And not all competitors need it
In my POV, there are much more key features to be added than a total rework of Waveform with clip launcher integrated.
In fact I fear Waveform would loose much of its straightforward workflow with the clip matrix.

Bitwig and Ableton are built around the clip matrix, if that's the workflow you want, that's the place to get it.
I'd be more interested in expanding the Arrange track, that already serves the same purpose as a clip matrix would.

Spoontechnique--curious: what expansions to the Arrange track would you recommend? I do use this a lot, and would be fascinated to hear some ideas.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

Clip Launchers . I'd love to see Bitwig or Live but as a plugin with 16 outs much like a drum type of plugin . I just don't care for the whole interface to be turned upside down. Not clip launching per day but Renoise did this in a way with Redux VST which is basically the Renoise sampler with a tracker inside of it . I have a licenses for Live , Renoise , Redux , and Bitwig 8 track . I'm not opposed to a Clip Launcher in Waveform but I just think it needs to be done tasteful . Let's not turn it into Bitwig or Live.

I haven't put a ton of thought into the Arrange track, as it already works quite well. I do have some ideas.
The Marker track and Arrange track should ignore each other. Right now, I use the Markers to mark out the sections of a song (chorus, verse, bridge, etc.), and I use the Arrange track to try out ideas for those sections (Chorus part 1, Chorus Idea 2, etc.). When I copy/move Arrange sections, that affects Markers, so I end up with 15 small markers that mean nothing.
I also think that editing shortcuts should apply to Arrange clips. You can't Consolidate/Heal/Merge/Ripple Delete Arrange clips. Having that consistency would be nice.
I'd like to see something similar to the Markers panel in the Browser, but for the Arrange track. Having a single pane where you could move around and edit Arrange clips would make the whole process much faster than click and drag on the timeline. Maybe it could have a "Commit" key, so you could audition a bunch of arrangement orders before actually changing the Timeline. Or being able to change Tempo/Time Signature/Key for single Arrange clips from that window.
As a bonus, it'd be fun (probably in conjunction with that Arrange panel) to have creative tools for Arrange. Something as simple as a "Shuffle Arrange Clips" button could be very useful.
Now that I say that, the idea of an Arrange panel sounds a lot like Live's clip window, but better integrated into Waveform's existing systems. So maybe "clip launcher but tastefully done" would be neat after all!

Those are all really good suggestions! I hope FigBug can review them.

You can use melda productions super looper for live looping as a vst. Works great.fedexnman wrote: Sat Apr 23, 2022 1:24 pm Clip Launchers . +1000 from me.
As a Bitwig user I personally like working initially in the clip launcher to build ideas quickly, where you can then either drag out selected clips into the song arrangement or record them into the arranger in a live recording to be great for getting the creativity flowing.
It's also fun just to jam sometimes and not always be in song writing mode, it's amazing how this helps with writers block.
Waveform could also follow Bitwig in regards that if you don't want to use the clip launcher, 1 button hides it completely and it takes up no extra CPU resources.

It would be great to have the possibilities of a clip lancher in Tracktion. It's true... maybe Waveform has another type of interface and workflow but... given the many creative tools it has (first of all for me the "Pattern generators"), with this feature it would become really powerful. Today I tried to use the Bitwig clip lancher and I find it extremely useful and interesting.
