Instant purchase at this price. The easiest ducker I've seen, and so many creative possibilities.

Is this in volumeshaper?chk071 wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 2:05 pmVery cool.NEW! Audio trigger
Kickstart can follow any kick drum pattern automatically, using world-class audio triggering from Cableguys. No longer just for 4x4 kicks, now you can use Kickstart for hip-hop, DnB, trap, pop and more.

Excellent!!!Jakob / Cableguys wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 4:23 pmYes! We're working on it right now. Kickstart is streamlined for Kick transient detection (although it works just fine on almost all percussion that has obvious transients, snares, hard synth sounds etc),
while ShaperBox is made for a wider range of control. But yeah, it's going to come!

I bought KS2 anyway, but for me, two extra parameters would make it even more convenient:Jakob / Cableguys wrote: Tue Apr 19, 2022 4:23 pmKickstart is streamlined for Kick transient detection (although it works just fine on almost all percussion that has obvious transients, snares, hard synth sounds etc),
- trigger freq range (LP and/or BP, to be able to sidechain KS2 with a drum sum but only react to the BD, at least I don´t always have the BD on an individual channel)
- trigger threshold (for when there are bass drum offbeats that shouldn´t impact the bassline rhythm)
Would these make sense from your perspective?

What does Kickstart 2 do exactly? I like to use Vengeance's Multiband Sidechain, LFO Tool but also the new FX Modulator in Cubase 12 but also Gatekeeper (Polyverse/Infected Mushroom).
Don't all these plug-ins do more or less the same thing?

Ok, I think I can answer it myself (installed the demo)
Very easy to use and the big difference: you can see kick and bass at the same time when audio and sidechain are activated. That's super helpful, of course.
LFO Tool is not available as VST3 and has (IMO) no sidechain function. The closest thing would be Vengeance's Multiband Sidechain. But... that requires (still) eLicenser and is much more complex.
Great plugin

Regarding filters: It's not so much the bass of the bass drum that triggers the detection - the bass is often a bit late and would not be good for timing. It's in big part the more mid/high frequency transient. So filters can be useful, but using them is sometimes counter-intuitive.
Regarding threshold: We've spent a long time to find the best default threshold, that works in most cases. But yes, it can definitely happen that it still triggers too often or to rarely for certain input. Changing the level of the signal that you route to Kickstart's sidechain input will do the trick then. Ableton Live for example offers a volume slider for the sidechain input. But yes, having said that, when you need it, it'd be good to have a threshold control directly inside Kickstart. But we think it's rather rare that you do for kicks, and wanted to keep Kickstart super-streamlined.
ShaperBox / VolumeShaper will offer more options.. that's why Kickstart has audio triggering already and we're still working on adding it to ShaperBox.

Now that you mention it, that makes obvious sense and explains why I´ve always had trouble sidechaining "the old-fashioned way"... stupid old me
Logic doesn´t, though - of course I´m a happy shaper box-user, do you happen to have a time estimate for the sidechain audio trigger feature?Jakob / Cableguys wrote: Sun Apr 24, 2022 6:20 pm Regarding threshold: We've spent a long time to find the best default threshold, that works in most cases. Its definitely so much easier to get it going.
I haven't gone into the "band" section, I assume that's just so you can duck bass sections or the whole thing, that's pretty cool tbh, it will replace Multiband Sidechain from Vengeance.

This is really nice. It might sound strange, but I appreciate a sidechain plugin with sidechain. So many sidechain plugins have no sidechain. I've found that confusing and frustrating.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Can i uninstall the old version when i upgraded to the new version? Or is the new depending on the old anyhow?

Kickstart 1 and 2 are very separate plugins (and they have unique IDs, which DAWs look at). You can uninstall one of them without affecting the other. Note that for loading songs that used Kickstart 1, you need to have Kickstart 1.adl wrote: Thu May 19, 2022 11:11 am Can i uninstall the old version when i upgraded to the new version?
