Although I'm pretty sure we won't see many, if any more updates either. I'm pretty positive that the plugins are discontinued.

Not "abandoned".

We're all being abandoned though. We poor things.
Yes, they're not even listed on that page. This is a good indicator that they are not going to be updating those products going forward. Did the use the EA algorithms in Neoverb?

Meh, the big mergers of late combined with this recession coming out of Covid is definitely driving my transition away from purchasing new software.

I'm going to start sounding like even more of a nut soon. It's almost a challenge to see what kind of music I could make using only open source software.

So I've owned PhoenixVerb, R2, and Excalibur since 2012. They're not in my iZotope account, only in my iLok account. Do other EA users have then in their iZotope accounts, and if so, how'd you get them there?

I'm curious if there is a Neoverb upgrade offer for EA users. It would be exceptionally shitty of iZotope if there isn't after killing our software and all...

I think so.

They were. You can see them in this Way Back Machine link:

Yes. That's why iZotope actually wanted Exponential Audio. They never cared about Michael Carne's brand or customers.

They won't show up in the iZotope Product Portal software, just in your account on iZotope's website, and in your iLok account, of course.

You can download the installers from your account on iZotope's website.

A bold claim. Which you hardly will be able to prove.

Funny that you think they shell out money for his brand, and don't care for it though. Do YOU spend money on things you don't care about?

The proof is in iZotope's actions.

For whatever reason I'm not as impressed with neoverb as I am with the EA plugins, even though the EA plugins are not my favorite. Perhaps this is related to the McGurk effect? I don't know.

Did iZotope import Exponential Audio's user database into their own when they acquired EA?
I don't recall having an EA user account either, you just downloaded the installers which were available to anyone to download, and authorize through iLok. That's pretty common with iLok protected software.

I'm not really interested in downloading the installers again. I'm interested in seeing if existing EA customers get an upgrade discount, seeing as iZotope screwed us and everything.

The EA tech also found its way into Dialogue Match (https://www.izotope.com/en/products/dia ... everb.html), which I get the impression was a really important part of why they needed to accelerate their reverb knowledge with such an acquisition.

same here: the EA plugins i've bought are not in my izotope account
i bought them through bluginboutique though...
but other izotope plugins that i bought through boutique (breaktweaker for example)
are listed in my izotope account

iirc i contacted them because of that and they told me
that that's correct and it is the way it is supposed to be
i.e.: the EA stuff is not listed...

I'm sure they cared about at least poaching those customers to some extent, but they have the worst way of doing it. ThIs isn't the first time they've done this and won't be the last. You only need history for proof.

@jamcat - none of us Phatmatik or iDrum users got any upgrade offers to Breaktweaker when they did the same thing back then. And they had all of our info because after that buyout, we were logging into iZotope's site for our downloads and license info (those stupid challenge/response serials were the worst). Dont see them doing it now, Neoverb is already out and about.

Indeed.
Not sure if you can or want to say, but were you also approached? (your reverbs became my personal successors to EA's Reverbs).

Problem is it seems to have removed what makes them sound special

No, I did have brief discussions with them a long long time ago but just for licensing and we didn't take it very far at all.

The approaches I receive tend to be for technology/product licenses or opportunities/ideas that people want to partner on to develop. Some of them are really interesting like the one I worked on with a professor from a top American uni for his research with a major technology firm that I am proud to know I covertly played a small role in the development of as it's a pretty successful consumer product now, but most I just don't have the time to get involved in sadly and I turn a lot of things down.

There was one potential acquisition approach about 18 months ago, which was the first time I'd been asked, but I politely declined. Maybe if I was interested in retiring it's something I would seek out, and I know my marketing guy would be able to make it happen as he has been instrumental in some music industry acquisitions already for other brands. Fundamentally while I think retiring at 40 is a nice idea (especially on the challenging days) it would probably overall would be a pretty bad idea!
