I use both EZX and SDX. Some of the EZX are really great sounds and even offer some kits not available in SDX. (Note: only EZX expansions work on EZ drummer).
Last time I bought an EZX, I paid $35. That was years ago. They can charge what they want, but I wont be buying any EZX for $89 anytime soon or ever.

I'll pay $79 to get EZD 3, that seems like a good value, since it's completely re written and it comes with a large new library and new features, 18 GB if I recall correctly.
They have a weekend sale this weekend with the Dream Pop EZX on sale for $39

'HUMANIZATION

Wonder how it will work
My guess? It will make very small adjustments to velocity and timing to make it sound more natural. Same humanization functions that probably already exist in your DAW.
Unfortunately not in Reason - that feature might be valuable to me cos I'm too lazy to switch DAW's

I like EZdrummer 2 and use it. The most interesting thing to me is what the new samples will sound like. I hope they will not have too much room sound, that's what I want to add by myself.
I prefer playing drums in realtime like a real drummer, so all the extra features are not that interesting to me, it's just about sound and also cpu usage.
I am curious

FYI - Toontrack have a livestream walkthrough on April 29th. That’s a few days before the pre-release discount ends, so worth waiting for imo.

I’d be surprised if it were much different, nothing in the feature-set suggests any kind of crazy new sonic trickery. Unless the resizeable UI stuffs something up I guess.

Gotta learn your tools - Reason pisses all over the other DAWs in that regard. ;-)

Trying to decide if it's worth picking up EZD3 when I already have SD3 and EZBass.

I'm interested in the "follow bandmate" feature and the step sequencer features. However, it seems like EZBass has a quite similar feature already.

Overall it looks like the feature sets between Superior and EZ are merging together. Something tells me the next iterations of these in years down the road will be one product merged together with a Superior and EZ mode you can select.

Just a reminder there’s a walkthrough live stream on the 29th that should give us all a better feel for the new features.

SD3 took many EZ2 features wholesale, and I too expect that trend to continue. For all the midi functionality, that should be copy/paste code-wise, pretty much. But I don’t ever see the two lines merging. They’re very invested in their separate SDX and EZX expansions, with a huge size and cost difference between the two.

Yeah you're right about the sound expansions.

I'll be working all day when they do the livestream, so I'll probably just pop on youtube over the weekend and this thread, hopefully, to catch the highlights.

Anyone knows how you actually get in contact with Toontrack? The forum people are not employees, and the only other way I know is techical support. Product or sales questions for instance, is there any way to contact those departments?

How do I contact support?

Toontrack offers support via email only. The Contact Support button is found at the bottom of every single FAQ (including this one).

Hundreds of FAQs have been created as a sort of knowledge base to common questions that we receive. Please type a few keywords in the search box on the main FAQ page (e.g. Authorize EZdrummer, or Multi out). You will then see the FAQ that pertains to your question. IF you do not find an answer, the contact support button is found at the bottom of each and every FAQ, so simply click on one and then click the contact button.

Looks and sounds pretty good. 2,500 midi grooves and the 3 kits mean it makes sense for SD3 owners like me who upgraded from SD2 - it’s pretty cheap for all that.

The enhanced Edit Play stuff looks very nice. The Bandmate looks pretty clever, but of course I suspect they chose files that worked particularly well. Biggest disappointment by far - I may have missed it, but looks like Tap2Find still doesn’t have different key sigs / swing controls. That’s such a no brainier, surely was easy for them to implement.

Still, I think I’m in.
