I've thought of doing this as well but didn't know if it would be frowned upon. I may join you.
If this becomes a mass phenomenon, it may lead to the opposite - to a gradual decrease in the desire to comment among many participants. Then we will just be silent for 15 days, and then we will receive a general list of ratings and - surprise! First place or last - what's the difference, you still won't know who liked or disliked what in your track.
Come on people, is your usual environment in transport, at work, etc. more pleasant and/or constructive than the OSC community? Don't you have that drop (of courage? rationality? humility? love?) to see among dozens of comments one unpleasant to you and either take everything useful from it or just ignore it. I may be wrong, because I do not know what others wrote under your tracks, I was just almost last twice and several times in the middle third, but I never saw a single offensive comment... There were opinions with which I disagree, there was a feeling that I was misunderstood, there was even: "Not too sure what this noise is, but it's loud and spoiling the track a bit" - hey, it was one of my favorite sounds actually!
I also don't want to offend anyone, but wisdom says: "Can't offend a person, he can only take offence!"

Genuine question - am I understanding correctly what you mean by 'exaggerated pseudo-greatness-comments' - do you mean a really positive comment that you think is not sincere?

Be very careful with stereotyping people, please. There's plenty of people who really ARE pleasant, but simply, and understandably, have their limits.

I've tried in both chrome and edge--when I put in my login credentials for the voting site and hit "start" nothing happens--nothing at all, no page load, the "start" button doesn't do any kind of click-y animation, nothing. Anyone else having this issue?

I've been wondering, if people are just scared that someone would find that track in their "liked list" then?
I know why I do it! It's because songs I "like" end up playing when I listen to my own stuff on soundcloud, once my song is over--and I usually go to soundcloud to listen to my own music for various reasons (compare with a new mix, make sure I'm remembering something right, narcissism, etc.)

If there's a way to turn that feature off I'd be interested in learning about it.

Ah, yes, the trick is to go to either your "Tracks" or to your playlists. Then it won't stray to some random track from your likes! ;)

Well... I feel like I tried playing just "my tracks" and it still jumped to other people's stuff but I'll try again and make sure I'm pressing the buttons I think I'm pressing!

If its your first time voting you will need to register on the voting site. Its a different login from your kvr one. So try the orange "register a New Account" button at the top.

Sorry. I didn't think that this could also be a careless statement... Of course, I can also be touchy (although there was no such thing in OSC), but even in virtual communication it will be clear in advance. However, okay, this is not a topic worth continuing, I think.

Yes, I have already registered, a few days ago, and am using the exact username and password stored in my google passwords profile. Was able to use the site when I registered a few days ago.

I tried generating a change-password email and it doesn't recognize my email address even though I just used the exact email address that autofilled so it should definitely be the one I put in a few days ago.

I also tried the orange registration button and it will not let me register, mentioning along the way that I may already have registered given my username or email!

I figured it out, autofill is using my "Rahodees" username on the login page, when it actually needs my email address.

Yes. This will probably get a few more people if they don't read it here. Got me a couple times.

Hi, everybody, first timer with a dumb question: Is there a criteria on how to vote? What I mean is, there are a lot of tracks that are not "my cup of tea" so to speak, but are really well made. So, what should the vote be based on? Production, composition / arrengment, "you like it or not" (and everything in between), other...
Again, sorry for the dumb question and good luck to everyone.

I'm also a first timer Markarian but my understanding is you choose your own criteria.

I'm using sonic creativity, musical creativity, and an undefined "it grabs me" as criteria, the first two I roughly average scores of 1 through 5, the third I use to bump things up or down a notch as seems appropriate.

That's not a dumb question at all. But I can give you only a vague answer. Everyone struggles with the same dilemma. On which criteria you base your votes, and how you weight them, is your own decision. There is no purely analytical approach to music. And noone asks you to justify your decisions afterwards. There's only you and your conscience...

Good luck and happy voting!
