No, PreSonus integrated the absolute best pitch correction available. How is including inferior in-house pitch correction that gives worse results than Melodyne a better option?

I would want to be using Melodyne anyways, and it's fantastic that you get it for free with Studio One. This "cheapest 3rd party option" is better than anything any other DAW includes. Plus those inferior in-house solutions can't be upgraded or expanded. You get what they give you and you're stuck with it. Being able to upgrade to Editor or Studio right inside of Studio One is the absolute best feature of Studio One's approach.

And the free Melodyne you get with Studio One is worth $100 off of a Melodyne upgrade. So even at full price you're paying $319 at most for polyphonic pitch. How much does Reason cost?

Alright, now we're just down to a difference of opinion.

I think that using Melodyne within a DAW is awkward and cumbersome, and you think it's fine.
You think that the results are the most important, while I think that a native integrated (non ARA2) workflow is what matters most.

That's all fine. It's moot, of course, Presonus will do what they will, and they will almost certainly not integrate with Reason.

Too much! Especially lately, since they raised their prices.
Logic Pro (for Mac people) is only $199 though, all inclusive with free updates.

Yeah. Presonus just seems to focus on their strengths. They are still a relatively small team working on this major DAW. I don't think Reason is a good fit but Preosnus could buy some other plugin maker that has a strong DSP background.Just don't know who that would be.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

I agree that they will almost certainly not partner. It's unfortunate though, because the alternative is as was said, would be that they would buy another small company. It's unfortunate that some company will have to lose its identity when Presonus gobbles them up. It would be super cool to see a partnership instead of that.

I don't think it's horrible idea, but would never happen. Reason just needs to be updated to a modern design and have some small, but key DAW options added. The whole rack thing is cute, but for serious work, it's just too clunky.

Honestly, I hate everything Propellerhead and want nothing to do with anything they do.

The reason goes way back to ReBirth. They could have turned ReBirth into 3 VST plugins way back in the day. Instead they killed it and developed Reason, which seemed to be built on a closed, anti-plugin agenda from the start. They could have become a major audio developer had they embraced VST early. Instead they fought against it and lost, shrinking into total irrelevance. Their later attempts to embrace VST came too little, too late. They deserve every failure they’ve racked up over the past 2 decades.
