I have been searching for anything else that could do what Sideminder do ... well I just put their quote here..
..in the same way that a peak limiter prevents amplitude "overs" the SideMinder plugins prevent WIDTH "overs" where mono compatibility becomes reduced.

This is not the same thing as mid/side compression which works on the absolute AMPLITUDES of the mid/side signals. SideMinder works on the relative RATIOs of the mid/side signals while leaving the amplitude of the stereo signal relatively untouched"

I assume there's no way of achive the same thing on any Melda plugin or MXXX...but I just wanted to ask just in case...

MRatio? With a bit of creative channel routing.

If that's possible it's way above my skill level..

I've been wondering the exact same question for a while. Almost bought it last Black Friday but thought "maybe someone in Meldaville will figure out how to clone this." :hihi:

It's a great concept for a plugin, the greatest use for me would be to tame excessive high freq stereo information to reduce potential lossy data compression artifacts (Soundcloud being the worst offender).

The only plugin I thought which might be able to do it so far is TDR Nova GE with the SUM/DIFF channel modes. So basically the SUM channel of a freq band would have DIFF in the sidechain, and vice versa, both dynamically.

Fabian described this once: "These allow dynamic widening or narrowing in dependence of the stereo difference or stereo sum's level. More clearly, one can widen narrow signals only, and keep the wide ones intact. And vice versa, all in dependence of frequency. One could reduce the LF width only if it really is unreasonably large, but keep "not too wide bass" stuff untouched. "

Sounds quite close to Sideminder ME, but have not tried this yet even though I own Nova GE.

Hm... I have TDR Nova GE so I will have to look into that.. however the main thing I want is to control the stereo so it never goes into negative phase. This is what I miss and so far only found in Sideminder...which I think is weird.

It can't be that complicated to code so the negative phase becomes the threshold to reduce the amplitude of anything that is going into negative phase...but what do I know :hihi:

Shouldn't be hard to do in MXXX. Just a few followers and then the magical Math Divide function :)

Hi Vojtech, would you mind posting the code for the MXXX device you had in mind?
Thanks Alex.
