Arturia V Collection 9. Predictions?

Although I was waiting for a "new" emulation that never done before, I'm actually glad that Arturia is not forgetting their legacy of emulations. I prefer them to update "old" emulations that they already have in their catalogue other than just adding new ones. Of course, ideally I like them to do both! Updating the "old" ones and introduce "new" ones (digital emulations included), but overall I'm happy for their direction.

Agree. I think they've struck a good balance between adding new stuff and improving the overall quality of the collection by updating old emulations that don't hold up so well anymore. I actually look forward to the rewrites just as much as new instruments. There are so many classics in the collection that deserve to be brought up to modern emulation standards.

Even just adding voice dispersion to the CS-80 will make it sound so much more alive (though I really hope the update also improves the filters, ring mod, etc.).

Just realised - now we’re at release day, the only thing left to predict (a la the thread title) is the upgrade price. We now know everything else. I’d previously guessed $149 / $99 with SQ80, but y’all convinced me $199 / $149 with SQ80 is more likely.

As for pricing, yes, $199/$149 sounds more likely. I had and sold V Collection, so don't have any version right now. Feels tempting to get it again, so what I am more curious about is the "V Collection 9 crossgrade pricing on launch" for Augmented Strings Intro / Pigments / KeyLab MK II owners like me.

I agree completely. They can't just keep adding new stuff without ever touching the old plugins except for GUI updates. Their CS80 and Prophet 5 emulations date back to around 2007 and really drag down the overall experience of the collection as a whole. I think their older emulations are a big reason people still have the impression that Arturia emulations are inferior to other developers, even though their newer emulations sound amazing. Of course when you're comparing something from 2007 meant to run on a Core 2 Duo to the latest ZDF filters and high resolution emulations, it's going to sound inferior...

That said, Augmented Strings/Voices seem like odd choices to include and IMO would have been better off as separate products like Pigments. I've always viewed V-Collection as a vintage Synth/Keyboard collection, and there are still a lot of synths and electromechanical keyboards they could have included in their place.

I wonder what the advanced functions will look like for augmented strings and voices. Will it open up a sort of pigments type interface where you have access to the synth layers and modulations?

Previous prices would predict €/$ 199 upgrade from V Collection 8, €/$ 149 from V8 with SQ80 V, and an extra €/$ 50 off if you wait until Black Friday. But, with so many being hammered by "cost of living" increases just now, it'd be a nice gesture from them to do an extra intro offer now without having people wait the usual 6 months..

I like that they're updating some of the existing stuff, but the Voices and Strings seem like odd choices for the collection.
I won't judge them harshly before trying, but right now they don't excite me much.
