New MPE synths...

Synthstrom has released version 4.0 of their firmware for the Deluge. Version 4 delivers their MPE support for the Deluge:
MPE SUPPORT
This massive release makes the Deluge the first standalone hardware sequencer to offer comprehensive MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) support, allowing you to record, edit and transmit expressive MPE with compatible devices. You can also use external MPE devices to get expressive with the Deluge’s internal synth/sample engine. Tip: combine with the Deluge’s multisample support to bring expression to everything!
...
POLYPHONIC AFTERTOUCH, IMPROVED “MONO” EXPRESSION
In bringing MPE to the Deluge, we at the same time introduced support for good ol’ MIDI polyphonic aftertouch, plus you can now record both pitch bend and channel pressure (aka monophonic aftertouch) into synth, MIDI and CV clips. And, this data now stays with the clip even when you change presets or switch between clip type (e.g. from MIDI to synth etc.).

Previously, synth clips could only record pitch bend, not channel pressure, and CV clips couldn’t record either.

I have a Deluge and have installed this update, but I have not yet had a chance to try it with my Linnstrument.

Cherry Audio have another new synth, Minimode, which has MPE support. I will probably try it later today and report on how well the MPE works, I suspect it will be fine given their previous MPE implementations.

I dig the idea of an MPE minimoog with 16 voice polyphony. :)

I picked up Minimode yesterday and it’s MPE support is identical to Dreamsynth. Very highly customizable and pretty easy to configure. Looks like they may have also added a global MPE config as opposed to preset-specific like Dreamsynth but I haven’t played with that yet so not sure if it’s what I think it is.

The GS e7 analog polysynth advertises (at least partial) MPE support.

From the manual:
MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE): Enables or disables MIDI Polyphonic
Expression mode. This setting is not compatible with a Multitimbral Patch.
From the Synthtopia post:
MIDI Polyphonic expression – MIDI Polyphonic expression is supported by the GS-e7. It was tested using GeoShred, allowing independent pitch control and cutoff for each voice.

Thanks very much for checking it out, I didnt find any time to do so yet.

For iPad users the new Tera Pro has full MPE functionality. Spent a day playing around with it and I’d say it’s well worth checking out.

The Waldorf entry in the hardware section can now be updated.

What they've done is take the MPE and other functionality that was in the firmware 3.0 betas and stuck it in a released non-beta firmware version 2.8.0. This is available for all three products in the line, so the entry on your list shouldnt just say Iridium any more, it can say Quantum, Iridium and Iridium Keyboard.

I dont think they've gotten round to doing release notes or updating the spec and manuals for the original Quantum and Iridium yet, but you can find MPE mentioned in the spec for the Iridium Keyboard at https://waldorfmusic.com/en/specificati ... m-keyboard and the manual for the Iridium Keyboard at https://support.waldorfmusic.com/files/ ... Manual.pdf and it actually works the same on all three synths.

These synths support 2 layers of sound and according to the manual splits are supported with MPE too. On the synth you can tell it what range of MPE midi channels applies to each split. I have not gotten round to trying this split feature with the Linnstruments split mode yet but its on my list of things to try in the coming days so I will report back about that.

These synths also have a USB host port which is capable of powering the Linnstrument and worked well with MPE when I tried in the past.

Thanks for the info. I've corrected the Recommended Sounds page.

Thanks to you for maintaining the best MPE list on the internet!

With the arrival today of V Collection 9 from Arturia, I note that the following instruments in that collection now have MPE support listed in their specs:

CS80 V
KORG MS-20 V
Prophet-5 V
Prophet-VS V
SQ80 V (you already have that one listed)
Augmented Strings (full version, you already have the intro version listed)
Augmented Voices

Their website is running slowly at the moment due to demand, but I took the time to go through the individual products to retrieve this info earlier.

I've just updated the Recommended Sounds page with these additions. Thanks for letting me know.

Sorry for creating more work for you, but I just discovered that a bunch of the other instruments in the collection have also been given MPE support that I wasnt expecting since they werent mentioned as being significantly updated with V9. I've now installed and gone through the whole lot myself to be sure, and can confirm that the following should also be added:

CZ V
Emulator II V
Jun-6V
Jup-8 V
OP-Xa V
Vocoder V

MPE already came of age some time ago in my book, but todays release rather underlines this lovely state of affairs, fun times!
