it is a well documented fact about Real Time Priority Mode. I think most people just turn it on because it sounds like it's gonna help improve things.. Realtime mode will make Tracktion the highest priority task running on the computer, which will probably help to reduce the minimum latency possible.
The most serious problem with realtime mode is that some VST plugins can freeze the operating system when you click on their interfaces. (This is caused by the way the plugins' interface code is written, and there's nothing Tracktion can do to fix this problem!)
It can also cause less dangerous side effects such as making the computer unresponsive when the CPU load is high.
Best way to find out if it works well on your PC is to try it.
