So selling something as "the latest and greatest" and then coming from behind the corner two weeks later with "haha... look at this", that's not very cool. It's called tricking customers.

Would that have happened two months ago, or half a year, ofc... that's bad luck. But this is cheating if the company then doesn't offer any grace period at all, not even their usual discounted upgrade price.
You get the upgrade price at $199 instead of $499, right?
How much did you pay for it 2 weeks ago? Less than $300?
Definitely not less, but that doesn't matter in this case. It was under the impression of buying the latest version, when in fact V9 was already in their storage. And we all know regular plugin prices are just inflated make up stories for the shareholders anyways.

So all in all, initiated through this first sale, Arturia got 1000€ from me in the last two weeks. Which is some substantial amount of money. To not offer anything here really, that is what's bothering.
What are you on about? The Native Instruments offer for V8 was $299. The upgrade price from that to V9 is $199.

That would put you at $498.
For new customers V9 is currently $499.

You make it sound like you got robbed
Yup. As this was a mere two weeks ago, sure.

See, they didn’t offer the “old” version. If they would have been that honest and said: “ok, here’s V8 for 300, V9 is in the works but you’ll get that at a discount.” awesome, no complaints.

But they sold it as the definitive “latest & greatest”, their top tier. Two weeks later an update comes around and now suddenly I have to pay full price (combined) to get that.
So the initial saving is totally gone.

If that would have been a few months ago. Also no complaint. But not in that short amount of time.

Plus this initial sale made me get more and addition with the rest I spend around 1000 bucks on Arturia in those two weeks. A little more customer friendliness with this sudden update (grace period) would be more than fair here. Don’t you think?

Sounds like folks are happy with the additions/upgrades. I guess I got used to more NEW synths in these updates for less money.

Ehh, looks like I have 25 days to think about it.

Arashi wrote: Tue May 10, 2022 10:32 pm Pleasantly surprised to see NKS support for the new instruments on day one. It's been frustrating having to wait 6 months for those after previous V Collection upgrades.
Hmm. Unfortunately there are some problems with the NKS implementations.
  • After you switch presets with the built-in browser (within the plugin UI), you can no longer switch presets with the NKS browser (in Komplete Kontrol or Maschine). Nothing happens when switching presets.
  • CS-80 V4 makes a weird blip every few notes in the default "Aftertouch Surprise" patch. This only happens in Komplete Kontrol (and probably Maschine as well). When I load the same patch in the standalone CS-80 V4 app, I don't hear the blip. It's probably safe to assume there are problems with other presets as well.
  • There are problems with the colors in the thin header image shown above the (NKS) preset list. For CS-80 V4, I just see an empty white rectangle. For MS-20 V, the background is a very bright yellow with white text on it that is impossible to read.
Damn! I was also going to say I was happy to see NKS implemented from jump as that has held me off from updating early in the past. Ehh well for that incentive.
The groove baby, the groove...

The horse isn't dead until the last Karen has spoken to the manager or I get a refund on my money and then rebuy it all on a substantial discount during summer-black friday-whatever sale, which will make Arturia "loose" even more money (If we all were really to believe in companies loosing money by selling discounted overpriced plugins in the first place).

There were no error messages. Both just crashed to desktop whilst I was playing. So I was looking at the keyboard, not the screen. The sound stopped. I looked at the screen and the apps were no longer running.

Anyone know, if there are logs kept for the standalones (and where)?

I will do further testing later.
Did you look in Windows Reliability Monitor? The report shows recent reliability and problem history by day, including application failures.

Look in Control Panel > Security and Maintenance > Maintenance > "View Reliability History".

If you double click an application failure, it will open the appcrash details.

V Collection 8 was released in December 2020. You waited until April 2022 to buy the "brand new" V Collection 8 on a discount. Whether or not V9 was around the corner, you saved money by buying late.

I get it though, the release of V9 got you feeling tricked. You want V9 now. Fortunately, Arturia does give you an upgrade price so you get the same price as new customers and early adopters. But that's not enough for you, you want a better price. Arturia has another option for you; Wait and buy late again.

This grace period you want is essentially some kind of loophole where you want to be an early adopter while saving money from buying late. Nice try, I'll give you that.

This is the craziest complaint I've seen yet.

So you bought something for 299, which now gives you the possibility to upgrade for 199, for a total of 498.

So you were
a) Given the ability to buy it a dollar cheaper than it would have cost you if you had waited,
b) Given access to those instruments in the V Collection earlier than you would have if you had waited, and
c) Given the option to save money if you only wanted the instruments in V8 and were not interested in the new additions. With no downside.

And this is your complaint? You would have preferred to have been told V9 was coming so that you could wait longer and pay an extra dollar?

What amazes me is people in the internet age,who frequent THE place for vst news and information

claiming to feel cheated in to buying "old software' like they've got a convincing argument

The horse is dead here dude. Complain where it counts. You want sympathy here and your sympathy quota is over-extended.

By this measure I should be getting the update for like $49 because i've had V Collection since v4 plus own a bunch of other Arturia stuff including hardware. Just doesn't work that way for them.

Which MPE controller do you guys recommend for CS80 v4?

I know there have been issues with Roli, including quality and bankruptcy, but I still really like my seaboard rise 49. I have a linnstrument too, but I like the squishy keys for these CS-80 type expressive pads and stuff. Just feels right.

Speaking of mpe, it's a bit odd how they did the mpe modulation assignments in the settings. It would have made more sense to have them in the keyboard modulation section. And they aren't available in the mod mixer sources either, which could have helped with setting curves perhaps? At least aftertouch gets curves which is most important, but having that for slide would be good too. I kinda wish they didn't use roli terminology though, I always forget which is which. Y-Axis or Timbre would have been better (though they use timbre for macros).

Good to know. Thank you, Edouard.
Sorry, but could you please check a previous post of mine where I have quoted you for some clarification regarding Analog Lab V?
Another member replied and was correct.
Analog Lab doesn't have an instrument view, so there is no button to open the browser, Analog Lab is the browser :D
