I didn´t went through the whole topic and I am not very familiar with all the different offers out there but what would be a good way to put together the functionality of the current set of Bitwig Note FX???

I already got Rhythmizer so the "probability" part is quite good covered...

What I am still looking for are replacements for a good Midi note repeat/note delay which can create more interesting rhythms with probability instead of just the typical timing values

Or something like their Dribble bouncing ball effect...

Is there a midi fx which can quantize events in realtime like the Bitwig one??

A Bitwig user created a preset for BW 4.1 that does a similar function. Following is the link to that thread.

Cool find! Somewhat reminds me of the reason rack extension RND from Lectric Panda. Or at least one of the 4 ‘cells’ from RND. Per Lectric Panda devices there are lots of settings/tweaks (some pretty esoteric!), so this one has caught my eye for ease of use/fun factor.

May have to demo!

Likely get it next time around.
Came across this in my notes
MidiBot $5 https://robbykilgore.com/?p=141
I got it but could not make it work.

And earlier interesting post:

I'll put that on various instrument/fx pairs in my DAW sometimes and just let it run for a sort of Brian Eno-like background track while I'm working.
Not sure if/when Midibot will be updated, haven't seen anything in a good while and it hasn't worked on my Mac ever since whatever system update required stuff to be notarized. Still, for $5 I got my money's worth, and should still work on PC? I think I only tried it out on my Mac, though.

The thing I like about it is that it has a great balance between ease of use and being able to dial in interesting and farily complex sequences that work well when futher expanded with other plugins, as in the mentioned MIDIFX chain.

That being said, though, any free-running MIDI generator that can send a monophonic sequence can work as the first link in that chain. Riffer in randomize-every-bar mode can probably be configured to produce a similar output, although if I was looking at making my own "bespoke" thing that worked something like Midibot, I would probably combine a handful of modules in VCV Rack (or the Bitwig note grid once I get around to learning it).

Although, now that Wotja is available on Mac/PC you can probably do something far more complex just using that. Not sure if you can do the exact same types of patterns, as Chord Potion has some very interesting modes, but it would probably be my pick for go-to soundscape generation now (before working on various FX chains on the computer, for a working background I would often fire up Wotja on my phone, punch in a random phrase, and let it evolve from there).

I just got it out of curiosity. Very inspiring, but I would rather rebuild it with better and more controls in the Grid…

Anybody using klimper? I've seen this pop up on my facebook feed for ages now and I see they now have a mac version and it's 50% off at the mo (so circa £25 /$30) - thoughts? (there's no demo just 14-day money back thing)

I saw this on the Music Theory forum.

Here's a little hidden gem in Melodyne, Lead Sheet.
You can export a chord progression from an audio file, not just MIDI notes.

^cool, thanks

I used to use CodeFN42'sCales for scale correction until Studio One and Cubase implemented similar functions. I still do rely on their RandARP and Transition for my ambient productions.

Just curious - what is the issue with Max?

a.) It somehow doesn't work well on my computers. His other device, Granurise, is unusable for me, as are all other Max Devices I try.
b.) It is slow as f#ck to load for me. Takes several minutes (again, Granurise).
c.) It's a standalone instead of a plugin with all the issues that has.
I don' use/have Live.

I am a little tempted by Max because of all the great devices for it so that is disappointing to hear of your problems. I will make sure to give it a solid demo.
On a happy note - the new BlueCat Connector can connect any audio programs via its ASIO driver. I have it working for Auxture and looks like it will work for giorgio sancristoforo Substantia. So Max should just plug in to your DAW - but not like rewire
