Nexus is merely the vehicle. Even a simple sampler has more power than Nexus...I can make fresh new sounds on my own with a sampler.
Under the hood, there is a VERY complex synthesis engine, with 64 possible oscillators (not necessarily sample based!), shape morphing oscillators, pwm, several lfos, several envelopes, filters (paralell serial, dual mode), complex routing via 16 layers, very advanced sample mangling functions, several insert effect types per layer and vast key/vel-zoning, crossfading / layering options. A Nexus preset may sound nothing like the used source sample in the end.
N4 got even more features under the hood now, such as wavetables. Sound Designers have access to this and without a question, this will lead to even better and more complex sounds in the future.
Yuo may think about the update (or that 3/4 was only 2 years apart) what you want, but this is a fact: Nexus isnt just a "player". Its a deep synthesizer.
Oh yeah I hadn't seen that. Was a Nexus 2 expansion according to the YT video.
Yes it's old. Millenium hardcore style.LeVzi wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 6:55 am Oh yeah I hadn't seen that. Was a Nexus 2 expansion according to the YT video.
It does sound very dated now, tbh, but some of it would be usable in modern Hardcore. The kicks are really old.
At £58 for a N2 expansion, i'll wait for a sale or just not bother. If it was current hardcore would be worth the high price.

Good news. The basic problem was not so much the upgrade price as such little new stuff to justify it. If sep outs appear with a $99 upgrade price, I’m in.
That's a huge jump from the current version (4.0.9) given Nexus4 was released only around 6 months ago. Anyway, looking forward to it. I hope the update will be as significant as the version number. And maybe some free new presets?
