Tracktion 7 and wanting instrument plug in

Am i missing something. Spent 3 days now trying to use sampletank3 as a plug in so i can make some simple backing tracks. I received Tracktion 7 with my XR18 Behringer purchase. Should i not be using sampletank and use some other plug in instead? What would be recommended to use for virtual instuments.
I would like to make a midi track to add some strings, saxophone, keyboard. More for live performance backing. I'm so close to figuring this out. Is tracktion not seeing sampletank as a vst because it is 32 bit?
What works with tracktion 7 to allow me to make my tracks?

Nearly every VST I've tried on T7 works (Win 64 bits). The only stuff that failed have been paid plugins, and those failed due to the licensing apps they come with. Make sure you are using VST that are the same bit depth as your system. So probably 64 bits.
Re: instruments
I don't know how new to DAW you are, so forgive if this is obvious.
The first plugin I'd suggest is:
http://www.bitsonic.eu/keyzoneclassic.html
Nice collection of pianos. You can use this to test that your system works, and it also sounds nice.
Also, you said strings, sax and keyboard. I'm going to assume you like natural instruments. I prefer sound fonts for that. I would recommend the free Sforzando player, which will allow you to play SF2 soundfonts like this stuff:
http://www.synthfont.com/links_to_soundfonts.html
https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando/
Some very nice samples there.
The last quick recommendation to get you doing something with MIDI is Ragnarok. It is a good synth with a decent amount of presets to get you going.

BTW, how is the XR18?

Sampletank runs fine with me on T7(64). It has to be 32bit for 32bit software or 64/64, otherwise it does not recognize the VST.This is true for every instrument, not just ST.
Good luck

SampleTank3 is only a 64-bit plugin, so if your version of Tracktion 7 is 32-bit it wont be able to use it. However Tracktion 7 also comes in a 64-bit version.
However, without more information (you've not even told us what OS you're using, let alone what you've tried so far) its just going to be guesswork as to what's going on.

Yup, what he said. You need to run the 64 bit version of Tracktion 7, Sampletank 3 is only available as a 64 bit VST version.
