kPere wrote: Tue May 31, 2022 12:31 pm This is nuts. I've repaired that Syner-V missing patches like the guy in the video did. But then I noticed that in a different folder, right next to samples there is another one with bunch of new syner-v patches.

So I copied them to the Sample folder as well. But what is weird is that on IK's site it's written that there are over 200 patches for Syner-V, and in that folder I can see only 170+. So are there any missing ones? I don't even bother myself looking at other synths. I'll just work with what I got, but this is total mess, and only upside of things is that it was cheap.
2 of the Syner_V download file have an extra layer of folders in them. Please have a look at:
https://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/vi ... 12&t=30018

My list on page 39 shows that Syner-V has 92 instrument presets and 177 wave sets.

Which just filled up... and now my computer is bitching at me.

Now I have to copy my Syntronik 2 folder over to another drive and specify that I want each instrument to be installed into that folder instead.

This has turned out to be a really shitty day for dealing with music app stuff. :dog:
Separate from the Product Manager allowing you to specify where to download the install zips, you can also open preferences in Syntronik2 and tell it where you want to install all the instruments. You only need do that once. Then when you install via the PM, the instruments will go in that location, you won't need to tell it for every instrument.

The IK Product Manager user manual describes how to set the folder to be used for downloads and how to Install libraries to any location you wish. Remember to back up the downloads somewhere so you do not need to download them again.
Yeah... I had the downloads folder already setup to a different drive, but the actual install drive is a bit more confusing. It doesn't really show you where it's actually being installed... it just sort of "remembers" where your last install was set to (with the '... More options > Install to...', thing), and goes from there.

Now I'm dealing with missing sound files that others are reporting. When I get a missing .pak file error, while listening through patches... I open the associated .zip/install file, and drag over all the missing sample folders, into the target 'Samples' folder location.

I think the worst offender so far, was the GS-V install... that only installed like 2, of the 8 parts. :?

It didn't work that way for me. I had 'Settings'/'Library' already setup in Syntronik 2... but the Product Manager just ignored that. Using the 'Install to...' option in S2's Product Manager fixed that though (it remembers your last install location, but doesn't list the actual location for you to see anywhere... for some reason).

I decided to just install onto my external SSD drive from the downloads folder. I did not have Syntronik before, so maybe it is simpler. But I think whenever I was missing a preset, I just reinstalled the sounds (does not take long) and (fingers crossed) that fixed the issue. Yep just noticed an extra uninstalled installer for Syner-V and installed it I will res-can next time I open then synth. Hopefully that will resolve that.

Ah ok, that would be really galling... I mean, my install was pretty galling already but at least the files it DID install, it installed to the right place.

Hi there,
Do you know if it is possible to install everything on external hard drives?
From what I’ve read, the installation looks complicated.

The the IK Product Manager ("IKPM") makes it easier to do.U

You can install the sounds library on an external drive (the IKPM User Manual explains the "Install to ... " option. I would still install the software onto your System disk.

Or, do it this way:
  • Download and install the IK Product Manager
  • In the IKPM, set the downloads folder in its Preference Settings
  • Download and install the software
  • Run the stand-alone Syntronik 2 program and set the Settings / Library / Sound Content path to where you want the sounds to be installed (on your external disk)
  • Run the IKPM and download and install the library for each synth (one at a time).
  • The sounds libraries should then be installed into that folder on your external disk,
  • Back up the downloaded files so you do not need to download them again.

On PC... I think the only thing you can't normally save away from your C Drive, is anything that might go into your Users > Name > Documents folder by default.

In my case that's all the .zip installers IK uses to install everything (which you absolutely want to keep). You can move the Documents folder and tweak Windows to look for and write to that (and just about anything else...) on another drive though. Which is what I did initially, because of my limited C Drive space. You can google for instructions. No idea how to make that work on a Mac though.

So how are people likeing the sound of Syntronik? Are there any hosting differences between the plugins? To be honest I never got along using my Sample tank 4 Max because of the different managers and how you access the samples, its just such a hassle. But I'm tempted, good way to get some extra toys without breaking the bank. At this point I'm rather torn if more the effort is worth it than the money tho :D.

I love Syntroik 2. I've downloaded lots of free plugins that emulate vintage synths like 303, OBx, Moog and none of them are half as good as the fidelity of S2 synths. The presets are plentiful and sound great for a lot of genres that I like. I never liked sample based instruments as I'm a guitar/bass purist but I am teaching myself piano and can play a little now. I upgraded to ST4 SE to get a decent piano (C7) and the limitations of my '90's PSR-85 MIDI controller (no aftertouch, velocity is so so) make it hard to tell but they seem better than the free ones. For the price the group buy, it can't be beat.

So they extended the group buy after all ? Was supposed to end midnight last night. Looks like it's still possible to join.

So all that "we need to get to 3000 or it won't be extended" was just BS?

Looks like you can still get in the group buy.

Even of you only install a few of the instruments it would be a good deal especially if you have JamPoints to lower the price to $35.

You could download everything and back it up then just install a few instruments at a time.
