RIP.
Unfortunate.
Also unfortunately owned a Pro One. Biggest POS synth I owned. Actually had many disagreements with him about the quality and functioning of that ProOne, many Prophet 600s and SixTrax(s), which would eventually turn into much stock being returned and fixed on their dime. We did have the only Prophet T-8 in that county though and I spent the entire year playing that every minute I could. Absolutely fantastic. Over the years, whenever we met up, he would never remember who I was until a few minutes into talking with him, which would be pleasant until he did, and then he would shut down on me again. Ironically, a decade or more later, my manager gave me a DrumTrax that was abandoned in the store after it locked up and supposedly couldn't be fixed by SC. Brought it home and did a hard reset on it and it worked perfectly. It became a major component in our band until we split.
I actually always thought of him as a very nice guy, very intelligent and personable as he wanted to be. I just got lumped into the bad history of the original company's troubled manufacturing period.
Definite prayers for his restful peace.

Too sad. I once said, “Dave gets me.” He knew exactly what to add to an instrument to make it the kind of thing I love. I’ve still got a Prophet 6, 12 and REV2. Classics. He will be missed.

A short statement on the Sequential website says: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Dave Smith has died".

“We’re heartbroken, but take some small solace in knowing he was on the road doing what he loved best in the company of family, friends, and artists.”

A really sad day but it's nice to know he was still doing what he loved. 72 is way too young to pass these days.

Rest in Peace Dave Smith and thanks for all you've done for the world of music.

My thoughts exactly. Pretty cool he reemerged and started up again. Wonder what's going to happen to Sequential?
