I just noticed this as well, though I have to admit the distortion algorithm sounds very good.gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Jan 19, 2022 3:36 pm I've go a question about the saturation in the filter stage
It seems that whichever filter I choose , the saturation is just a post filter effect and not part of the filter feedback itself .

Late to the party, but this thing is really good. I could definitely see myself using this a fair amount if they'd add poly pressure or MPE.

I sent a note to the original developer and he sent a nice reply but it basically said, "It was in an older build but had some problems so I took it out. I'm not doing any further development, but if you're handy with programming you can do it yourself as it's now open sourced."
So... anyone good at programming?

this synth was interesting but i just erased it. performance and other problems in my environment.
i don't use any free stuff today (ok, maybe dexed, but just because it comes with unify).
I remember when synthedit was the new thing, heaps of free synthedit plugins were there to download. Later i realised everything has a "price"

Yeah, I remember those days. I was just starting to move to an ITB setup for various reasons and it must have been the peak of that. At first it was all, “oh wow, that sounds pretty cool, and free!” Before you know it you’ve wasted hours checking out a brunch of synths that are all just slight variations of things made with the stock components of SynthEdit.dune_rave wrote: Thu Feb 03, 2022 5:11 am this synth was interesting but i just erased it. performance and other problems in my environment.

Odin is definitely not on par with those things. It could easily be a commercial plugin based on the sound and the features are pretty extensive. I probably won’t use it much because of the lack of poly pressure support, but I’m a tiny fraction of potential users. I could see a lot of people really getting a lot out of it.

Is it possible to make skins for him (and if so, how)?
And will there be such an opportunity in the future?
The synth sounds great, but it looks quite old school, I would change everything except the knobs and buttons (they look good).

When I'd first d/l Odin II, I thought it was a good enough synth, not particularly impressive, just okay. Unfortunately, since I thought it couldn't hold its own against my other synths, I let it go.
Later, I read about people talking about the wonders of the Thor synth which I'd never heard of before. That's when they mentioned its VST knockoff, Odin. Intrigued, I d/l it again. This time, though, I went through it with a fine tooth comb and am now truly infatuated with it. Its reverb was a disappointment at first because it sounded too springy, but subsequent listenings showed this was just an effect on particular patches and the reverb is actually smooth.
One disappointing thing, though: Like the Op-X Pro II, Odin II also suffers from the blight of having either a tiny UI or over-large UI with no in-between. Is there a software that can scale plugin interfaces? That'd be nice to have.

I'm trying to get back into music production as a hobby again, partly inspired by darker synthwave style (Perturbator, Carpenter Brut, ..).
Trying to stick to free stuff for now and considering using Odin2 as main workhorse synth. I believe/hope it should work well for that style and has enough flexibility to do most of what I'm going for.
Both Surge and Vital are free and very capable as well, but Odin2's sound character and focused workflow (!) just seem to suit me better
Thanks again for creating a great synth and offering it for free!
And the fact we get access to the source code even makes me consider attempting to improve a few things

Odin 2 is not "skinnable" per se, as in you cannot load skins at runtime. You can however, simply replace the PNG assets in the git repository's Graphics and Graphics_150 folders for small and big GUI respectively and recompile the synth.Alexander137 wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 7:29 am Is it possible to make skins for him (and if so, how)?

I have to warn you though: It's a bit messy, as I initially didn't plan to create a 150% scaled version. The result is lots of assets which are offset by one pixel in the bigger version.
