I still try to make the best of my own life where possible and I recognize, things are a lot better both worldwide and personally than they could have been. But they're also dumber and crueler and more rotten than they could be too. Overall I feel like we live in "interesting times" as the supposed Chinese curse says. And I don't predict seeing more stable, calm, historically uneventful times coming in the near future either.
By a lot of the metrics people use, things have never been better globally. If you look at infant mortality, access to clean water, immunisation programs beating smallpox, polio etc then things are really looking up. It's a shame we can't build on that as a species, still all the stupid pettiness/greed making things worse than they could be for the majority. But then that's kind of human history in a nutshell...

I guess personally you need to try and keep that in focus, don't succumb to mass media doom mongering (hard as that is it times, I know) and work on the things that matter to you and your family, the small things, the things you get to define and deem important.

i think its more, we are getting old, so more people we have looked up to over our lives, will probably start to die off.
all part of lifes rich tapestry.
Yes, we are getting older. It s just that in a month all these legends i looked up to have all died. The list goes on... :( I can add Arno Hintjens too which isn t a synth guy but somewhat of a local hero here.

:hihi:

This is also a possibility.

That's life. All is exactly as it should be. Just depends on what you choose to focus on and how you choose to see it.

:tu: I have traversed some personal tricky waters in the last ten years, imo extremely important is reminding yourself and the recognition of any and all positive movement and learn from things that were less than positive.

When one is lost in the woods there's a great technique to keep you from going in circles...you line up three tress, walk to the next tree, line up the two leftover and a third and keep going...small achievable goals that line up with each other...I have found it works well in life too.

As for what this has to do with so many losses this year is beyond me, that is kinda relative...I have had worse years for loss of figures I admired
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
