Sorry, this is going to be a bit of a rant, but any advice would be welcome.
Basically I don't understand How/where the Audio loops are stored and filed. I know what tags are for, but how do I search for usefull content?
I'll give an example. In Waveform 12 Pro, I opened the browser and in the categories I selected "Samples". Now my understanding of a sample is a "One Shot" audio file that you would load into a drum machine or multisampler, Not a Drum Loop. However, as the browser doesn't have a catergory for "Loops" I thought this is the place to search. I typed in "Funk, Rock, HipHop etc but it only came up with three "Factory loops" (AppData/DataRoaming/Tracktion Waveform). Is that all? Then I remembered that waveform 11 came with a sound pack of Alex sanfillippo drum loops but I couldn't find them anywhere. I went to the download manager and re-downloaded the pack. 15 mins later. I then had to locate the files somewhere on my hard drive and set up a path in waveform settings page. Even then still no luck when I type "Rock" in the search box. The Alex Sanfillippo drum pack consists or folders labled "chorus" "Intro" "Verse" etc. No mention of tempo, genre etc. When the folders are expanded You have about 15 variations of each verse, intro etc, just a generic 4/4 rythm. worst still, you get hundreds of variations of overhead microphones, Just incase you spend hours mixing your own drom kits. All I want is some ready to use drum loops.
In the end I have found a whole bunch of free loops and I can use them. But I might need some advice on how to categorise and tag them.
Now, As for trying to locate my VST instruments and effects............

Post

I found them in the local ProgramData folder (Windows 10), which for me is here: C:\ProgramData\Tracktion\

Plugins are generally installed to program files\Steinberg or program files\Common Files\VST2 / VST3. These tend to be the default locations for VST plugins no matter where they come from.

Thanks for the reply David.
I looked in location you suggested but apart from content for "Collective" sampler, the "Alex Sanfillippo" loops and the PDF user manual, there are no other loops or samples. I also use Cubase and have a free version of Ableton and they come with drum loops so why not Waveform?
