If you like the Model 84 then you like the Juno-106, as they sound identical. I'd been thinking this thread was about their MiniMoog synth and had no idea they have something new to offer. I only checked it out because I'm bored shitless at work. I'm not a huge 101 fan, having owned one from new back in the day, but I don't like Junos, either, yet I do like Model 84.

I bought Model 72 for 43.80 USD back during the last Black Friday saleNikkiA wrote: Sun Jun 12, 2022 7:29 amSoftube sales are very fleeting and unpredictable, the only time Model 72 has been at that price, so far, was Softube's own easter-egg-hunt sale back at easter. It'll *probably* be on sale for that again, maybe the 4th July sales.Examigan wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 10:50 pmIs Model 72 on sale anywhere else for $49?chk071 wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 9:23 am I might get the Model 84 at some point (still don't have a proper Roland Juno emu). They had some nice sales with the Model 72 for 49 € in the past. Hope the same happens with Model 84 some time.

Nah it's a techno machine, plus lots of other synth rock etc. E.g. Air used to use it in their live set up.pixel85 wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 4:06 pm 101 is a Goa Trance machine. No more, no less. I can't imagine it being used in anything else![]()

It's not all I like but it's the extras that extend its functionality enough to make it a lot more ueful than the JU-06 I bought a few years ago (and sold after a few months). It's a bit the same here with the Model 82 - it's not that it sounds terrible, it's that it's too limited to be useful. I got the hint from the website, where they spennt more time carrying on about the sequencer than anything else. Like I need a f**king sequencer whn I have to load it into my sequencer to use the f**king thing! And unlike Uno, they don't even take advantage of it in the prsets. Every Uno preset has a seuqnece with it that shows that patch off to best advantage. Plus, of course, Uno's sequencer has several lanes of "motion sequencing" too.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 3:51 pmIf you like the Model 84 then you like the Juno-106, as they sound identical. It seems as though softube is pulling their punches. Softube has amazing DSP, why hesitate and do something so minimal? Wavetable synths I know arent for everyone, but when I see Vital and Phaseplant, Dune 3, U-he stuff, then I turn over to see the Model 82, all I see is wasted talent. They really do have amazing DSP, just go all out and do some complicated big dog synths
Arturia has been on pace, and they are going to cover even more ground with V10.

Isn't their Parallels synth wavescanning/wavetables?
https://www.softube.com/parallels
and that sure doesn't sound good to me, worse yet comparing them to the model series.

The demos they have on their website for Parallels are terrible. I don't care if its Richard Devine, the demo sucks. I wouldn't put up any money based on those demos.

I had downloaded parallels and tried it when it came out. It was a hell no for me.
I think they are top of the line with analog emulations in both synths and effects.
Personally I am very happy with them sticking to that.

If you think the demos are bad, wait until you hear the factory presets. It's like somebody's first week with a synth. About the only thing it's missing is a helicopter patch. They are diabolical.rezoneight wrote: Tue Jun 14, 2022 12:29 amThe demos they have on their website are terrible. I don't care if its Richard Devine, the demo sucks. Maybe that's why I think Goa is shite?pixel85 wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 4:06 pm101 is a Goa Trance machine. No more, no less. I can't imagine it being used in anything else

Oops sorry was referring to Parallels. I had not listened to the demos for the 101. Watched a couple of videos but I'm done buying stuff at this point. 101 isn't going to add anything that I can't get already a 1000 times over so even cheap I don't care. Bought Model 72 and ended up getting my money back. Have plenty of Minimoogs. Did keep Model 84 tho.BONES wrote: Tue Jun 14, 2022 2:38 amIf you think the demos are bad, wait until you hear the factory presets. It's like somebody's first week with a synth. I know, I know. You would only enjoy Goa Trance if it would be made on Minimoog
Ps. Goa, which "evolved" into "Neo Goa", is another great example showing that technical level of production means nothing. Neo Goa has way better production level than old "lo-fi" Goa (from today's perspective). But it's totally unimaginative and uncreative. Goa at its time had a lot of original sound design and memorable themes. You could distinguish tracks (well, of course some very unoriginal and boring too). Neo Goa is like a caricature of old Goa. All tracks sound the same and none of them has original sound design or memorable themes. Just old basic motifs repeated over and over again with modern production techniques. Even Synthwave is capable to have some memorable themes even that it's another genre based on nostalgia.
When you're bored at work you can listen some random VA "Best of Neo Goa". I bet that 5 minutes after listening you'll not remember anything from that VA.
I'll take shit sounding but creative track any time over boring unoriginal track with brilliant production level.

Every word you have written here makes me shake my head in bewilderment. To uninitiated listener, it all just sounds like EDM, in much the same way as anyone not into Country & Western doesn't know the difference between Country and Western (if such a thing even exists). Every distinction you've made would be utterly meaningless in any other genre but EDM.
What's a "VA"?
I'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the new and the old stuff. It will all sound like boring shite to me because it will almost certainly have no structure and definitely have no vocals.

Yeah agreed, was not a fan of them myself either. Well I'm talking about the Model 82 apparently you're talking some other synth of theirs.rezoneight wrote: Tue Jun 14, 2022 12:29 am The demos they have on their website are terrible. Various Artists - aka compilation
Maybe it's simply too complicated for you? if you prefer simpler ABACB arrangements, then Goa/Psy is definitely not for you.It will all sound like boring shite to me because it will almost certainly have no structure and definitely have no vocals.
Also, to quite yourself: "To uninitiated listener, it all just sounds like EDM" - it looks like you're one of them if eg. those two tracks sound the same to you:
