Jupiter-4 seems to be missing the Zoom option.

There's no explicit zoom command anymore. Just drag the bottom right corner.

I was really hoping for a JP8000/8080
If a want a Jupiter 4, I'll buy the Cherry Audio version for one fifth of the price Roland is asking. The Roland version is probably 'better' but I'm sure not 5 times better

I agree. It sounds great, but WAY too expensive for the Lifetime Key.kNarf_ wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 7:16 am If a want a Jupiter 4, I'll buy the Cherry Audio version for one fifth of the price Roland is asking. The Roland version is probably 'better' but I'm sure not 5 times better![]()
Pricing seems to be going in the wrong direction: the Sound Packs on Roland Cloud went from $0.99 to $4.99 (for the first 100). The new ones will cost $9.99 !!!

You can create these sounds with any VSTi with subtractive synthesis incl. supersaw.

I noticed they also have a deal for five of the plugins including the J4 for $499.

Indeed. It's nothing more than an old VA with supersaw. Nothing you can't get with several of today good synths that are available in the market (which, BTW, will cost you around 99, NOT 199, as Roland seems to place their synths). And these modern synths will offer you way more.maximoog wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:54 amI wonder what's so great about the JP8000/8080?kNarf_ wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 7:16 am I was really hoping for a JP8000/8080![]()

Yes, that's a departure if it doesn't update. The $199 price is also a $50 rise over the original Jupiter 8 price which, I think, currently makes the JP4 Roland's most expensive individual plugin outside of Zenology Pro..gunark wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 6:05 am Been saving a lifetime credit for the next synth and….not on the list when choosing. That’s disappointing.
Eh?! They just had them on a $50 offer, until June 13th, for the first 100. If they're now $4.99 each that's literally a 10x price increase overnight! Talk about inflation..JamminFool wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 7:24 amPricing seems to be going in the wrong direction: the Sound Packs on Roland Cloud went from $0.99 to $4.99 (for the first 100). I know they're trying to promote the rental side. Just not sure the way to do that is to kinda price yerself out of the rest of the market otherwise

I consider the JP80x0 to be a 'legendary' synth because it defined the sound of dance/trance music in the 00's (with a few others like the Virus, Nord Lead etc.). I know many softsynths can do supersaws, and I own most of them. But to this date a complete emulation of the JP80x0 with all of its features hasn't been released.maximoog wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:54 amI wonder what's so great about the JP8000/8080?kNarf_ wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 7:16 am I was really hoping for a JP8000/8080![]()

The Juno's, for example, aren't exactly spectacular synths either, if you look at the specs. And yet countless emulations have been released because Juno's are special to a lot of people. Same goes for the JP80x0, I'm sure it will be a commercial succes if Roland or another company would release a proper emulation.

I'm asking this myself as JP8000 owner. The nice thing about of that synth is really the direct user interface with all the controls. Apart from that it's a pretty standard Roland digital synth so almost all sounds can be recreated with the Zencore engine. I'd guess that you can still find parts of the original JP8000 code and concepts in Zencore.maximoog wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:54 amI wonder what's so great about the JP8000/8080?kNarf_ wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 7:16 am I was really hoping for a JP8000/8080![]()

At the end a JP8000 plugin would definitely just be a Zencore skin. If it is fancy then it will include the feedback oscillator or it will just use samples instead.
If I could use my hardware as remote control for a JP80X0 plugin then this would be really cool. But I doubt that this will ever happen looking at the other plugins where even sysex import is not possible.
@Brian: Do you know what the state of CLAP is within Roland's road map?

That exact statement can be said about _ANY_ of the roland cloud synths.....maximoog wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:54 amI wonder what's so great about the JP8000/8080?kNarf_ wrote: Fri Jun 17, 2022 7:16 am I was really hoping for a JP8000/8080![]()

whats so special about the jp8k, well, how about The Way it Sounds
theres a reason its a sought after synth. And why people like Szabo wanted to recreate it, and the fact that many people want one in SW format. And its the sound, not its synthesis capabilites.
Combination of its filters with the way their sawtooths sound i guess; not sure, but it has a Sound wont you agree. Just like any synth

I imagine this is why the lifetime key is $200, and why the jupiter 4 can be chosen in the
''play4life" scheme - they are pushing you to this bundle which makes each of them $100.

Does anyone else see zero presets with the Jupiter 4?
When I open it I only see two banks full of initial A-8 thru H-8.
Maybe because that's exactly what you got with the original synth?
