Well, yes. KvR is a social meeting place. That's nothing new.
This why Mackie have a Tracktion forum (no hoax threads there).

Only thing is there aren't many seasoned users in the Mackie forum that can help you. Why? They have no reason to hang around there.

Let's have a look at the two obvious flaws in your line of reasoning here shall we:

If we divide the forum up into basically three groups, those who don't mind the occassional silly periods on the forum, those who do mind, and post objects to it, and those who do mind and don't want any part of it.

You sit in that center group and accuse others of arrogance. Does it never occur to you that people in the last group don't want you to speak for them as they have no interest in your OT crap either? So entirely innocent Tracktion users, get punished by you as a lesson to us?

Secondly, you ask what you should do. Well if it all bothers you that much, then it is simple: POST IN THE BLOODY THREAD YOU OBJECT TO. You make it sound like you are forced to read every single post in this forum. :roll: Once you have worked out that there is nothing in a thread to interest you, you can just ignore it, no matter how long it gets. When you start a new thread youaren't making legitimate protetst, you are doubling the problem. Not least of which because now any serious threads are twice as likely to be bumped off the bottom of the first page.

I have little or no interest in mac threads, 'cos there is typically no useful help I can give, and nothing much useful I'm going to learn. I don't go around demanding that the mac users prefix their posts with [mac] or whatever, I just read the first post, think "OK," and ignore it from there onwards.

So, as you said: do you really not understand this. The point about threads is that discussions, be they prattle or content, are kept in one place. Spinning off a million threads about the same thing, be they hoax or anti-hoax, is stupid.

I still don't see any self-appointed comedians here dare to do their 'humor thing' in other forums. Try to fake some hoax threads everyday in, say, receptor forum, and it'll be fun to see some asses got kicked for sure. And personally I think that'll be something really fun to watch.:hihi:

I noticed a few regulars I admire have joined in this hoax thingie as if they're fighting against oppresion/conservatives. Gosh. I don't have any problem with occasional pranking, but it wears out very fast and some ppl are crossing the line as a result.

If you don't believe there's a line, please, I beg you, prove your point by posting hoax threads in other company forums. Any sane moderator will delete/lock that kind of crap, especially when it's done repeatedly.

All the false reasoning so far:

This is KvR, we can fool around as much as we like. Yeah right, why not go and try to do the same in other forums and let's see if how well other companies can embrace the humor. :roll:

This is for increasing the traffic so more ppl will join RMS forum. Now this is one of the most weird arguments I've ever heard here. So funny that it doesn't even worth refuting. :lol:

Hoax post is a mean to push Mackie/RMS to give us more info about T2. As a fellow user, I totally understand the urge. But personally I'm against the mentality behind this tactic. You may get what you want, or may be seen as an invitation for a more heavily moderated forum(or even something worse than that can be possible).

What I(and probably cbit too) am trying to say is self-restraint is needed or someone will do something about it - which may hurt us all and turn into a lose-lose situation in the end.

Anyway, do whatever you see fit. It'll be fun to watch whatever comes around. :hihi:

valley: i'll be the first to admit that i'm not completely consistent.. but i try to be. I know that by posting complaint threads, useful threads get pushed off the bottom.. thats a shame.

btw: iveposted only one complaint thread as far as i can remember// the one with the poll.. i thought that was quite revealilng. If the results had indicated that i was the only one who had a problem with the hoaxes i would have shut up and left it at that. But i'm not..
