It could be something in-between. A tool that spits out a CLAP version of an original AUv2 or AUv3 plugin you throw at it. Such a tool would be more interesting than a wrapper that could load any AU. As end user I want to load a specific plugin and not think about loading a wrapper and load a plugin on top…
That would make it also more convenient for exchanging DAW sessions. A session with a VST from Windows could still load though a mac VST version doesn’t exist…
