It could be something in-between. A tool that spits out a CLAP version of an original AUv2 or AUv3 plugin you throw at it. The UI should just open the original UI nothing else… As this is just for MacOS, it should be at least possible…
Such a tool would be more interesting than a wrapper that could load any AU. As end user I want to load a specific plugin and not think about loading a wrapper and load a plugin on top…
That would make it also more convenient for exchanging DAW sessions. A session with a VST from Windows could still load though a mac VST version doesn’t exist…

Yeah the only main problem is with code signing - but like I said I am thinking about ways to do it and if I can make it work will definitely share here!

(I have a particular desire for it in that I have an idea which involves controlling plugins and I would sooner write that to the clap api but don’t want to lose all my aus ….)

There must be a way, or how do developers test their plugins before they get signed? I have an (unpaid) developer account, if that is an option…
For the time being, I am still on Mojave, need to save for a M1 machine…

Guys, is there any way to take the general CLAP chat to one of the other threads, such as the developer thread? I want to make sure I don't miss submissions and updates for the database here.

Well thats easy, it doesn’t reside at KVR anyway. Just bookmark https://clapdb.tech/

Yeah, I read this and thought....wait a minute..... then I confirmed my thoughts when I saw the posts below. :D It's all good! 8) :tu:
Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

As with the Apple Silicon topic, this is the place to submit database updates for CLAP.

I am posting this in Hosts / DAWs, because there really isn't a fully appropriate category for it.
early access of Vital 1.5.1 CLAP is available as well :)

Where? It's not in my account (I have Vital Pro). The current 1.5.1 Early Access for Mac that I have available does not include a CLAP plugin.

I see a post on their forum that someone "found it" but they don't say where, and it's nowhere on the site that I can see.

went to my account, saw 1.5.1, downloaded the WIndows variant and it gave me the option to install CLAP as well. Maybe he released only a Windows version for now

Might not be available just yet, but it's coming very soon! Edit: scrolling through the builds channel on the Discord server, shows that the Linux and Mac OS builds failed, but the Windows build did not, which would explain why it's only currently available to Windows users.
Always Read the Manual!
