The problem I had where SM/SM1 couldn't see any updates turned out to be my firewall blocking some windows 10 "normally only telemetry" process from grabbing an updated certificate for the synthmaster website.

It wouldn't surprise me if the same reasoning might be why bank downloads don't happen for some.

Strangely it will update SM itself but not DL or install the presets.

Even if you downloaded the bank from our website, you'd have to import it inside SynthMaster, because the bank file has to be registered under your user account. We use cdn77 (CDN) to host our downloadable content , and during downloads the http response is redirected to cdn77. Maybe during the redirection you guys are getting an error ?

The basic problem is that a plugin in a DAW isn't a web browser, but it's being expected to behave as one, and using bits of the OS that purport to provide that functionality doesn't guarantee that you're getting the same API experience as the web browsers we use. eg, bits of edge may be broken due to firewalls and anti-malware tools, but then we don't use edge, so never see the web as the software does.

In my case, there are many websites I can't use because they assume that all tracking cookies and all advertising domains are accessible, and their javascript depends on that, so unless I use a sandboxed web browser specifically set up to access those sites, the behaviour in my desktop browser is broken.

Allowing users to download and import simple files via the web allows us to be able to see why these things are failing, and use alternative browsers or means if necessary. Hiding it all behind the windows API just gives us '*bzzzt* you failed, try again'

Hi, I have tried your address with my ipad and it does the job(blank page with “success” on the left high angle).I don’t have errors, simply the plugin seems to do nothing. Later I will try with my studio pc

The purpose is to "simplify" the process for the end user, not create extra complexity. for some of us this is not the case, why not have a traditional download if this doesn't work ?

i guess most people don't use it,but sm1 field 'description' still have small annoying bug - double every text,applying picture of it,if nobody mention it.
SM1.52 work smooth like a silk,that's only complain i've got.

Because even if you downloaded the bank from our website, SynthMaster has to register it by connecting to our server. If your DAW is blocked from connecting to our server, you'd get the same error again.

But it isn't blocking it, I can update Synthmaster from Cubase 11 (latest), Live 11 latest) and Logic 10. It just won't install the presets. Surely you are not saying that you instantiated a system without checking that the 3 most popular DAWs would work?. What is your solution to this issue?

I use Logic (v10.6.3) and installed three preset packs into SM2 following the recent sales. The internal update system worked fine for me. One thing to bear in mind is that I have disabled Gatekeeper in Catalina, so I don't know if there's a notarisation issue with the preset installers?

I find it strange that this issue only affects SOME users on both the Mac & PC platforms, and apparently isn't DAW specific either...

The system used for SM is unique and obviously broken for some users. Rather then defend it just fix it or simply provide a normal DL link for those who have a issue. Still waiting for a solution.
