You simply don’t know if its a cheap synth. Cheap in terms of investment into development. If you can sell 20 times more with a tenth of the price, you make more profit than selling it expensive. If they are smart they have another company that sells the same engine with a new skin for high price loving customers like you and I bet you will hear a difference in sound quality and grab the more expensive one. Win - win…Aliens wrote: Wed Jul 06, 2022 12:45 am What nonsense over cheap synths.![]()
CA sell plugins that aren't even discretionary money purchases, more like what you lose behind the sofa, so demo them, choose to buy or not buy them. It's that simple.
Why do people here hate on cherry audio?

As per usual, this thread has degenerated into a personal tirade of name calling and stupidity. Why on earth does any dev have to explain his business model to a faceless internet troll? Yes, you @Pekbro. What a dick.

If $30 isn't cheap to you, I apologize, to me it's not a problem so forgive my extravagance.Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Jul 06, 2022 7:35 am You simply don’t know if its a cheap synth. But the point is still Cherry Audio don't have to justify anything about what they do when the consumer has all the power in the dynamic - Buy or don't.
Good luck to them

Seriously, the way you are digging out the dev makes you look churlish and not very smart. He doesn't remember the issue. He must be an idiot, then, right? It was a small anecdote from maybe 30 years ago, and the guy doesn't remember? Total idiot, amirite?
Anyway, I brought up the tuning thing as a funny little anecdote about using a relatively ancient instrument to tune a relatively modern instrument, and KVR responds by calling my friend an idiot and assuming he'd be so dumb as to not get his instrument repaired if it was a recurring issue.
And...Scene!
Aaaaaaaaanyway, sorry to have triggered you. My point was more that there are a hundred good reasons to use software over an actual Juno-106. Drifting oscillators are not one of them. I believe that “drifting” was your description. A broken Juno that needs servicing is a totally different can of worms, and I can concede that if the pitch wheel is messed up, you could have a problem, but I wouldn’t tune it with an accordion, or any other acoustic instrument. I used to have that issue from time to time on my Pro 2, but a quick wheel calibration did the trick. The LFO slider idea… that doesn’t even make sense. You’d have to keep adjusting the tuning in response to the modulation of the LFO. Super difficult.

Based on your choice of words, I'm fairly certain I would be wasting my time to engage with you. We have free demos that will enlighten those who are genuinely interested as to whether or not our products have a place in their studio.pekbro wrote: Tue Jul 05, 2022 7:04 pm Fair enough, perhaps you might enlighten us as to some of the more technical aspects of how these synths are made, e.g. what types of modeling go into them? Component level, circuit modeling etc. Since you see fit to undercut the competition so severely, essentially opening the door for these arguments and comparisons to begin in the first place. Tell us why we should believe that they are even in the same league as something that has taken years of painstaking development by developers who are upfront about their meticulous, costly and time consuming processes.

Sure, but most of us prefer a single community where we can meet all our synth discussion needs, and KVR is one of the most obvious for those due to the size and diversity of products covered. Having to visit 100+ different communities to find all relevant discussion would take too much time.GusGranite wrote: Wed Jul 06, 2022 2:49 pm If anyone is bemused by the weird negativity in this thread, there is a really cool little community around Cherry Audio and Voltage Modular.
Unfortunately KVR is also a cess-pit of trolls, idiots and the wilfully ignorant, and while I have in the past wished the moderation here was a little stricter, I'm also not 100% sure I want to see it change to ban *all* negative discussion of any plugin, whether they advertise on KVR or not. It's a hard balance to find I guess.

Of course, I'm not surprised by your response. choice of words, considering I wouldn't have said anything, if you had not felt the need to
try and discredit me by referring to my post as "utter nonsense" when I had specifically
stated that it was conjecture. I think a simple "that's incorrect" would have been
sufficient and much less antagonizing. Anyway, I do agree that it would be a waste of
time discussing the matter any further with you.

On gearslutz forum he accused me of being a troll after I had critisized the osc sync aliasing issue in ca 2600 , after providing audio files and screenshots of the issue .
When some other users backed me up ,his only defense was that I was creating suck puppet acounts .
That left a very bad taste in my mouth and made me apreciate companies like TAL and U-he even more ,where valid criticism is appreciated .

I believe you're mistaken. The only interaction between us that I'm aware of was this post (below) in May on Gearspace where you made the same assertion. I've only been with Cherry Audio since January of this year. I don't recall that I've ever posted about CA2600 before or after I joined. I don't think I've ever even used the term "suck puppet" (or even sock).gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Jul 06, 2022 8:35 pm Don't take it too personal , it's not the first time rsaintjohn@cherry audio does that.

So that's the second time in a second place you've accused me of this. But, frankly, I have no idea who you are.
There's no need to make things up. If folks like you and pekbro don't want me (or Cherry Audio) here in the KVR Forum, just come out and say so. I won't make any promises, but at least everyone will know where you stand.
