You have been shown several excellent analogies of this "vision".

I think the gym membership offered by another user is the best analogy I've heard.

If you can't see the "vision" in the gym membership analogy, then you are being willfully blind.

My "next door woodworking shop" was a pretty good analogy too.

The output of these analogies is the primary goal (body condition, pieces of furniture).
Using the gym analogy, you try to take from us our expensive machines that we already have bought ourselves with our hard earned cash, and try to force us all into a gym where I and many others never wanted to in the first place.
And the gym membership analogy from the start is a failed analogy. You can´t buy and sell the muscles you get in a gym.
It is you who is blind. And that´s me being generous.
C’mon, who’s coming to take the machines that you purchased? If you’ve built a home gym, you will have that gym for how ever long you want it. My relatives have a home gym since the 90s, and nobody from Golds Gym, Planet Fitness or any gym company ever came and took the machines away! What are you talking about man?

Have you followed this topic at all?

“The VST instruments you already own will continue to function” No, it won´t. It will be abandonware soon enough, as the company asap will go full subscription model as soon as enough people have taken the bait. The sub model, once implemented, will be the only product available, because "everybody is doing it". And the second hand market will be gone.

You say “the sub model once implemented, will be the only product available”, yet UVI have implemented the sub model now, and you can still clearly buy products from them without a sub. So you are making some truly false statements. If you are trolling for fun, you got me mate! :tu:

but the one you have will continue to work as it does now.
you just won't get new features, if it did go sub only.

no one will come and remove the file from your computer, unless you do!

And even then, no one is forcing him to upgrade an OS or buy a new computer. He can happily use his purchased product for years and years to come.

Sad that he wants to deny others an alternative ways of creating music, because only his way is the "moral" way to access creative tools.
Yeah I’m not sure anyone can reason with him. When someone has an idea implanted in their mind that way, everything seems evil, everyone is lying, even when all the facts of the world contradict what they are saying.

Freedom of choice is a great thing and the sub model has been around forever, just seems new to the music production scene and people freak out without really understanding the business model.

So @hebex instead of getting everything UVI makes for $240 a year, go buy everything a similar company like “Spitfire Audio” makes https://www.spitfireaudio.com/everything/

It will only cost you $17,949 upfront…….

That is simply 100% not true.

If you really think think is true... sad to be so stuck in non-reality.

You "forgot" to include my whole response: "No it won´t. It will be abandonware soon enough, as the company asap will go full subscription model as soon as enough people have taken the bait. And, as I´ve reiterated several times, see above, the second hand market gone is only a small part of what the enslavement a sub economy for the VST industry will bring, where big business practically own all VST-musicians.

Well, when you and your influencer partners´ arguments don´t hold logically against us people who want to keep our freedom from your corporate BS business plan, you can always try to smear us.

Hey man, do what works for you and your setup at the end of the day. That’s what matters :phones:

However misguided I think you are in your reasoning, feel free to continue down that road. I have to remind myself that some people in 2022 still think the earth is flat, so nothing surprises me these days.

“Abandonware” still functions and is not taken away from you. You can use it for years to come.

You're taking the extreme and avoiding his main points, which are largely correct.
Freedom of choice is a great thing and the sub model has been around forever, just seems new to the music production scene and people freak out without really understanding the business model.
So then, how about that Photoshop "freedom of choice?" In case you've forgotten, Adobe went sub in 2013. That may seem like forever, but it's not really that long ago. Prior to that, it was largely unheard of for consumer or prosumer products.

I think that people understand the business model just fine. It's designed to extract more income from consumers over the long term. Having access to the entire catalog is always presented as the consumer side of the value proposition, however, you will not use all of that, ever. So it's very similar to being insurance poor.
So @hebex instead of getting everything UVI makes for $240 a year, go buy everything a similar company like “Spitfire Audio” makes https://www.spitfireaudio.com/everything/

Almost nobody needs all of that. Yet going to a subscription model does not change the development costs. Hence, all subscribers are essentially paying for all products, whether they use them or not.

I'd say it's time to pay attention to Netflix to see what the canary bringeth in the future. In related news, expect to see a lower priced ad driven option for your favorite plugins soon. I probably shouldn't have said that out loud, I can hear IK execs salivating in the distance.

And yet fine alternatives to Adobe products exist for those who want to purchase. And old purchased versions of Adobe products will still run. So these two fears being whined about are unfounded.

And an ad-supported subscription tier that is extremely cheap or free will be a great option for some people. Nice way to try something out. Bring it on.

Lots of people on this planet that have different needs, preferences and economic means. But many of the different people share a love and desire to create music.

It's wonderful to see a broader range of options to access creative tools evolve.

thats the important thing we often forget, its ok for us, most of us live in reasonably well off countries, and obviously have more money than sense in some cases ( ) but there are people who dont, and while i personally wont be subscribing to anyone, its unfair of me to deny others the option.
if it means that more people get access to the tools we take for granted (how many of us have loads of plugins we never even open now?) then its a good and not evil at all thing :)
