This will happen. Probably after the current OB-E sale period.
kylie wrote: Fri Jul 08, 2022 9:54 am Does anyone of you who bought SEM see it in the instruments list in you GForce Account?
I see it in my orders list, but not among my instruments. It works, of course, by installing the demo from the product page and activate it with the key that shows up in the order entry but I'd prefer the same behaviour across my bought plugins... :-|

I do hope the additional features to the arp and sequencer do make it to the OB-E one day.

I feel this. Just thought I'd share, now back to your regularly scheduled content.

If this had polyphony it would be so much nicer to use than OB-E. Looking at the OB-E GUI, it’s pretty intimidating.

GForce, please make SEM polyphonic or add a single SEM view in OB-E?

OB-E does have a single panel interface mode already.
They are not going to make the SEM polyphonic, that's what OB-E is for. The SEM is the SEM, a monosynth.

I think if one changes OB-E to single panel AND enable Group, it gets pretty close if not exactly to what simmo75 is asking for no?

I don't know if it's just me, but, I miss a little bit of bass in this synth. Already had that impression about OB-E. When I think of Oberheim and the SEM, I think of massive bottom end. The plugin has some, but, could be more. Again, could be just me. The sound is great overall, I just think it could be a little bit more beefy.
Pitch VCO3 an octave lower than the lowest VCO on Sine or Square. It can produce monstrous bass.

Do you think the 12db filter misleads you into thinking it's not as bassy (excluding the VCO3)? I can say that some people voice the opinion that the OB-6 doesn't have much bass but, while not hyping it like a Model D seems to, it has a lot of bass - an EQ graph clearly shows it. But the 12db filter is just brighter, and not only at the highest frequencies.

Well now I feel silly 🙃

Where is the single view, and actually is there an MPE midi button?

Thanks guys

It's almost tempting to get one that has the Oberheim endorsement but I already have the Arturia, Cherry Audio and bx SEMs, for me the bx is already pretty 'beefy' and has polyphony. I don't particularly like the Cherry version, not just because of the sound but also the way it has all the 8 modules side by side which I find clumsy, which is also a problem with the OB-E. Even though the Arturia one is maybe a little weaker I much prefer creating patches with it because I love the 8 voice programmer which to me is a much more elegant solution to making an 8 voice SEM work. So in practice I find myself using the Arturia the most.

I found the entire OB-E experience a complete and utter inspiration killer. I gave it a red-hot go but I just couldn't like it enough to spend $200 on. $55 on this one is still a bit pricey for what it is but I much prefer it to OB-E. I use Obsession a fair bit, I think it's highly under-rated.
Effectsworks wrote: Fri Jul 08, 2022 10:53 amI'm very impressed by this so it was an insta buy for me. As far as I'm concerned this blows away PAs and Arturia's versions.
Well I've just spent a couple of hours trying to replace some isntances of bx_oberhausen with this thing and it's not really in the same class. It does OK but even running it through a saturation plugin, it's still not as thick and lush as oberhausen, so it needs ot be louder in the mix to pull its weight. I haven't compared it directly to SEM-V but I reckon it's going to sit somewhere in between the two for me. It's a bit too clean and nice compared to oberhausen.

bx_oberhausen is still the one to beat for me, still king of the hill.

The preset bank is weird - no "Pads" section at all. And way too many of the patches are pure 70s retro sounds. It kinda sells SEM short. And the so-called patch librarian "feature" is absolute krap. After a few hours of playing with it, my initial enthusiasm has cooled somewhat. I'm not regretting buying it and it will defintiely get some use but it's no replacement for anything I already have. I think the best thing about it is how playable many of the presets are.

The OBE should have had one module layout, with 8 square buttons to switch between each module. The way all of them are laid out, is cluttered.

It does have a one module layout. This has been mentioned multiple times in this thread. Enable the "Group" feature, then click the "Zoom" button on one of the modules and you'll see a single module, with Grouping on, you can edit all modules at once if needed. It's a decent workflow.

So even though I don't need another analog emulation and certainly don't need another mono synth I figured for grins and giggles I'd try the demo.

I expected to give it a few minutes then uninstall it and move on but damn it this synth has a seriously pleasing sound to me. Took about 20 seconds to impress me and I went from expecting "Meh" to thinking "Wow" in nearly record time.

I can see a bunch of people buying this, then really getting GAS and just upgrading to the full OB-E. I say, just cut to the chase.
