I’ve been getting deeper into MDrummer lately and it seems to have finally clicked. I LOVE the method of arranging drums, building up a collection of loops and sequencing them with note / velocity combo.
In fact, I like that way of working so much that it’s how I want to write for other instruments. I’d love to see an MComposer module that let me write and collect short MIDI clips and then sequence them with note / velocity. It wouldn’t need any sounds of it’s own, it would just output multi-channel MIDI to trigger other instruments.
I think it could work quite a lot like the current loop editor, but with each instrument lane being a polyphonic midi roll rather than a monophonic drum lane. That way I could build up a clip for e.g. three trumpets.
Anyway, I don’t know if this fits into the Melda vision, but I hope you’ll consider it. MDrummer’s way of working is incredibly powerful and straightforward once I grasped it, and I’d really like to apply that approach to writing for other instruments as well.
Idea: MComposer (like MDrummer loop editor for other midi instruments)

Who knows, perhaps one day, but no plans for such a thing in the near future. Also MIDI plugins are a bit problematic, due to lack of support in Logic and mess in MIDI routing in some other DAWs. But I think something like this could be added to MSoundFactory at some point.
