I often think that sort of thing about some of the music I hear around the place - that it's someone's personal music and not something they can possibly think anyone else wants to hear. It's probably stuff that reminds me of the kind of thing I used to play on a Sunday morning, to relax. That was, of course, before I realised what a scam relaxing was.

I realize that you dont get music from any other perspective other than your own, lyrics dont have meaning, no one wants to hear it...yet you missed the entire point to play the role you play. That's what it is sir, it's a role, you play the tough guy online and on stage and that is fine, that's who you are and who you want to be.
What you miss is respecting the reasons others make music and also you seem to refuse to respect their right to get pleasure from music in a way they like which I hate to break it to you might not be aggressive, assertive music shoved down their throats at clubs. Again I believe it's the role you play and you perpetuate it here.
Music for relaxing is as old as time, perhaps even older than bloated egos. I really wouldnt care how you are and just shrug it off as to each his own except I am mod and we get threads like this
viewtopic.php?p=8448769#p8448769
Bones, KvR strongly supports the growth of musicians (and will I defend new musicians as well as hold up until my last breath), many of us care that music is always in people's lives. It doesnt matter what genre it is, whether it is good or bad (no such thing as either imo). For the record and this is from the heart and truth, your music to me with PTSD is like a lot of music, the result for me is as it is very aggressive in my opinion it heightens my anxiety levels. As I do suffer from PTSD and self preservation is important I honestly avoid such music. I am not saying it is bad, nor am I saying it's good...but what I am saying sir is it is bad for me. Music to relax has literally and quite accurately saved my life, my son still has a father because of my ability to use my music to relax.
The funny thing is we have known each other for close to 20 years I have never had the need to share that with you. It is a weird phenomenon here on KvR and online, the anonymity allows people to always give their opinion about others simply because they can. I find that online people need to tell remind others they dont like them, it's absolutely grade school behavior, my dad can beat your dad up crap. In the physical world I just ignore such people and walk away, it really is like tv shit or cartoons, exaggerated ridiculous behavior. (ftr that is not just you, I have several people who feel they just need to remind me that they they dont like me, what a waste of mental energy)
Really all it is is pumping one's ego at the expense of others, you know I was the smallest kid in school. I didnt break 100lbs until I was a freshman in high school in a time where bullies thrived. I decided to go to the voc, a very rough school and yes I had to deal with bullies. (first month at that school I kicked one of the biggest kids in my grade right in the teeth and for the next four years was left alone). When I came back from the army however it was comical, those same bullies going no where in life were tripping over themselves to make sure we were cool...it's all relative.
I wonder if you see the point, I choose to engulf myself in positivity, it works for me and with years of PTSD is one of my strongest coping skills. That should bother no one, but it's the internet and one's rights to stoke their ego by being abusive is so easy why not right? Next will come the gaslighting of others it's not my fault they are a snowflake, but yes it is because that is how you choose to view them or the parts of them you choose to view.
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

It's not that I don't like it. As I said, it's stuff that reminds me of things that I do, or have done, myself but it's stuff I wouldn't even think anyone else might want to hear. The connection is in playing it, not hearing it back. It's like the fuckwit who always pulls his acounstic guitar out at a party or a BBQ - he has a great time and is totally oblivious to the fact he is ruining everything for at least half the other people present.Hink wrote: Tue Jul 12, 2022 4:15 pmIt seems kinda disingenuous to suggest that nobody wants to hear it simply because you dont like it.
No-one is saying that, it just surprises me sometimes what people think is worth sharing. No one forces you to listen to anything but sorry it is simply out of line for anyone to believe they should be the arbiter for others on what they want to hear.
That's not even close to reality. You may not be aware but the biggest crowds I've ever played to are as a Dj in the late 90s, spinning Top 10 hits from the 80s at one of the most successful club nights of all time in Sydney. We used to get 800-1,000 people every Friday night and around 2,000 people every Saturday. So unless you think Limahl and Hayzee Fantayzee are "assertive", you are way off the mark. To me it's about choosing your moment and your audience, nothing more. What you miss is respecting the reasons others make music and also you seem to refuse to respect their right to get pleasure from music in a way they like which I hate to break it to you might not be aggressive, assertive music shoved down their throats at clubs. Again I believe it's the role you play and you perpetuate it here.

apologies for misinterpreting your words about your shows. About...

Bones, I think almost all us at many times in our lives have something we do we are excited about, it might not mean much to others but at that very moment at that very time we you are feeling good (or bad, confused, what have you) having a place to just simply share is inspirational, educational and vital. To think any of us have the right to cast negative judgement on that is completely unfathomable in my mind and frankly it's really kind of cruel to piss on their joy. We should be supportive of each other, not destructive to each other...if you think someone shouldnt share something because it doesnt meet some arbitrary standard, well you're wrong. Trust me, most people are their own toughest critic and as they grow they might look back and realize it wasnt all that.
Hopefully when that happens they will have where with all to also notice how much they have grown and how important those phases are. They can be humbling, they can be inspirational, they might even be embarrassing, but they are tremendous tools for growth and imo waypoints to mark ones voyage. The only time it's really negative is when someone else makes it so with shallow judgement.
Please understand, I firmly believe that is not how KvR should be or other musicians for that matter...this should be safe haven for all so they can explore on their own and find their own paths.
you pretty much just did what you say you are not doingNo-one is saying that, it just surprises me sometimes what people think is worth sharing.

It surprises me sometimes what people think is worth sharing. I'm going to have a nightmare tonight where I'm forced to attend a concert where Hayzee Fantayzee opens for Frank Zappa who opens for Rush who opens for Tool and the entire time not only will I not be able to just leave, but, I'm going to have to listen to that one vegan ex-girlfriend go on and on and on and on and on and f**king on about the lyrics.
