Are you STILL harping about wanting a PG-8X Mac M1 version?! The donate button is for donating if you find the "existing" program useful. Look, give up on the PG-8X. You'll be much happier. You don't want to sell your Mac, so you need to move on. I know you love the PG-8X sound, but chances are you won't get an Apple M1 version. Buy a different synth, or get the hardware. By the way, I'll make a deal for you. I own a Roland JX-8P that still works and has been sitting in my closet for about a decade. My heart isn't so tied to the sound, but this is the original real deal. It's in rough shape, but it still works. It even comes with the storage cartridge (which alone is worth quite a bit). I'd be willing to sell it to you for $200, but here's the condition--you have to also pay for shipping. It's heavy and I know that I'll never use it. I might as well make someone happy with it. I think you are the sort of person that would appreciate an original. Martin has given various reasons why he doesn’t have time to update PG-8X or open source it over the past 5 years despite saying he was doing both, but he’s had time to develop VCV rack modules the whole time. Some open source, some commercial.

But even if you don't want my offer you've got to move on. I felt the same way about the SQ8L synth, but it's a 32-bit app that will never be updated and I use high resolution screens nowadays. Speaking of which, I also have an original Ensoniq ESQ1 that only partially works, and I'd be willing to give that one away for free to someone who will pay for the shipping costs.
At one time, years ago during the analog-vs-digital flame wars here at KVR, I "thought" I was convinced that true analog synths were the way to go. It's absolutely true that few synths sound as warm as a quality analog that has been kept up and is being played by someone who knows what they are doing. But there's the rub. I'm not willing to pay for the upkeep for a synth that I can buy a plugin for that sounds 90% accurate. That's the lesson I learned with my foray into the world on analog. 
So anyway, they're there if you (or someone else) wants them. But you'll be happier if you move on from the PG-8X.
