Are you STILL harping about wanting a PG-8X Mac M1 version?! The donate button is for donating if you find the "existing" program useful. Look, give up on the PG-8X. You'll be much happier. You don't want to sell your Mac, so you need to move on. I know you love the PG-8X sound, but chances are you won't get an Apple M1 version. Buy a different synth, or get the hardware. By the way, I'll make a deal for you. I own a Roland JX-8P that still works and has been sitting in my closet for about a decade. My heart isn't so tied to the sound, but this is the original real deal. It's in rough shape, but it still works. It even comes with the storage cartridge (which alone is worth quite a bit). I'd be willing to sell it to you for $200, but here's the condition--you have to also pay for shipping. It's heavy and I know that I'll never use it. I might as well make someone happy with it. I think you are the sort of person that would appreciate an original. Checking on ebay, I think you could even turn around and sell it for a profit if you wanted to.jamcat wrote: Tue Apr 26, 2022 4:22 pm Of course there are no issues with copyright. If there were, PG-8X would have been pulled down a long time ago. It’s still up, along with the donate button.
Martin has given various reasons why he doesn’t have time to update PG-8X or open source it over the past 5 years despite saying he was doing both, but he’s had time to develop VCV rack modules the whole time. Some open source, some commercial.

But keep hitting that donate button and maybe one day those PG-8X updates will come…
But even if you don't want my offer you've got to move on. I felt the same way about the SQ8L synth, but it's a 32-bit app that will never be updated and I use high resolution screens nowadays. Speaking of which, I also have an original Ensoniq ESQ1 that only partially works, and I'd be willing to give that one away for free to someone who will pay for the shipping costs.
So anyway, they're there if you (or someone else) wants them. But you'll be happier if you move on from the PG-8X.
