Hello. Surely this question has been asked before but how do you delete your kvr account? I need to concentrate on saving my house and won't be able to log in regularly.

Post

You can't delete your account ... you can stop logging in.

Post

ok. fyi i'd much rather delete the account than leave it open though.

KVR is like a black hole. Once you step in there's no going back. :)

You can change the password to something you cannot remember and the email to an incorrect email address and then you will never be able to log in again.

Until you ask the mod for your changed password.

The problem is that, when the forum software doesn't allow it, you have to jump through hoops to delete everything from a particular user.

I think TheoM demanded to delete his account once, probably threatened to blow up the site if the mods don't comply, so his user name was changed to something like "UserAccount99".

Apart from that, I wonder what's so bad about simply being a non-active member. Maybe it's not dramatic enough.

No, they want their drug dealer to stop providing their drugs. They lack the willpower to just walk away.
Ever ask your dealer to stop selling to you?

As far as the software goes, deleting an account will end up deleting others' posts as well if the person in question started their own threads.

Agreed. It's an acknowledgement of human imperfection; being human, and knowing the nature of addiction (and yes, forums can be addictive), they are wishing to remove the temptation from their lives to ease their moving-on. Totally reasonable, and something it would be good for KVR to have.

you know what though, almost every single person who makes such a dramatic exit comes back...either with the same name or as a sockpuppet (I respect and admire those who come back with the same name)...I would be fine with just such a thing if there were away to keep sockpuppets from occurring.

People act the fool, or troll, or just plain be dicks, leave or get banned and then come back as a sockpuppet to get a fresh start and guess who is the first person they troll? It's one of the most common abuse I face here, somebody joins last week and they know all about me

The OP hasn't been active here since 27 June so maybe he found self restraint. If in the future he gets the desire to come back he can do so and if not he'll simply fade in to KVR history and obscurity.

I could see if there was financial data connected to an account you'd want to clean that up but for just a simple forum account I don't think there's any harm in simply letting it die a natural death.

At any rate with over 477,000 members, account deletion could be a full time job.
