The version of this 1968 Elio Petri film that I once saw had a sadly somewhat typical poorly dubbed soundtrack.
I still don't think it ranks up there with Petri's best work but there apparently is a more recent Blu-Ray edition that might be worth checking out for those interested in Ennio Morricone's more experimental soundtracks.

Not sure about film music scores, but, I liked the ones from Jerry Goldsmith a lot (Star Trek, Alien, Total Recall). I'm more a fan of game soundtracks. System Shock 2, Thief, Deus Ex are my favorites.

...and for those with an interest in the folks who mostly work behind the scenes, like with many of Goldsmith's soundtracks, Planet Of The Apes was orchestrated by the great Arthur Morton.
Morton's IMDB page (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0607925/) shows over 500 films (some uncredited) that he worked on during his long career. I first noticed his name in Sam Peckinpah's 'The Ballad of Cable Hogue' where he uncharacteristically is named right underneath Goldsmith's name.
In more recent times, Bruce Fowler, who once played with Frank Zappa, appears among the credits of quite a few Hollywood films that he has orchestrated.
It's probably not a bad way to make a living for someone with a strong music background.
