Agreed, there are a couple of 'spammers' posting similar deals over and over and even though I've added them as foes I still get the mails. Would like to see it change but it is what it is.

Aside from the 29 regular + 1 extra payment on purchase weirdness, I think that this 30 USD per month for 1 purchase for a permanent license per month thing is not unclever.
They get subscribers, practically SAAS (software subscription), while the users who don't like subscriptions get permanent licenses.

And you are right: It's a (psychological) game that they are playing.

Yeah... it's still possible to get some great deals, but generally only on larger orders.

The best way to get deals on their $250 plugins is to make a list and wait 2 years for $15 to $20.

If nothing is going to be done about the endless PA chatter then everything else should stay the same as well. Presumably we're all musicians here and sounds/presets are much more important to making music than yet another eq or compressor ; that is , in my opinion. I dont buy sounds very often but I might be inclined to add something that will further a specific project and meet a deadline.

Actually I wasn't aware of this. Thanks. There still seem to be some issues regarding e-mails and blocking relevant posts that also has presets among other their offers. But at least this is an option.

I would like to bring back the debate about having presets and samples or not in the bargain thread.

Personally I believe 0,1 pct. of viewers (prove me wrong) are interested in these preset "bargains" that seems to always be on sale. When something is always on sale it's not a true sale but more like a normal resale price. Furthermore it's often the same few number of preset packs from a seller that get's posted again and again.

If everybody selling presets/samples posted their "bargains" here it would be impossible to find any true bargain. I find myself constantly scrolling through annoying preset offers again and again.

As someone once suggested I think preset sales should have a sticky thread for themselves. What do you think?

I raised this and fought with it back in September 2020. Someone started a poll thread, which showed at least 2-to-1 (I recall it was actually closer to 3.5-to-1) in favor of splitting the threads with a pretty good number of votes. I created a new "Bargain Center" thread for preset packs, and a few honorable resellers even posted in it. And an admin here agreed to update the lead message of the Bargain Thread after discussing with Ben and other admins. Then the poll thread got removed, my posting announcing the existence of the new thread was deleted, and some small number of users shouted down any further discussion of the issue. So it died on the vine and everything went back to the way it was, and still is.

So I wish you good luck and godspeed, but don't have too much hope. It's a shame because the only alternative is marking the worst offenders as "foes". That's not a very good solution because the forum still sends you an email notification when a foe posts. Also because there are some users who post about preset packs and also about useful stuff, but you can only "foe" them across the entire site, not just in a single thread.

Hm well I admire your efforts. That result doesn't exactly look like good customer service.

The only reason I can think of to end up with that result is a by complaints from preset sellers. Maybe some of them have paid advertisement on kvr and a person higher in the kvr-hierarchy just decided to cancel everything. If so they just have to remember that the reason they have paid advertisement is because of the customers/viewers on the site. And good customer service is among others to stand by your word. And also not to clutter the bargain thread with repetitive deals that probably only a minority have interest in.

I hope we can get a new poll and a reconsideration from the mods. But I think it must be someone else's turn to do so this time .

Yes true. What I ment was that to me it seems that especially the preset bargains always are on sale here.

Yeah, but it's the same half a dozen or so people endlessly recycling their packs every week or so. I got nothing personal against them, but they're not adding value to this thread. They're adding noise.

In the grand scheme of things, it's minor, but over time it becomes annoying as hell.

Exactly. I couldn't have expressed that better myself. The same packages recycled over and over is nothing but noise.

I just checked the last three pages of the Bargains thread. One sound designer posted four times. However in that same time one retail seller posted 14 times so it's kind of hard to complain about one and not the other.

Just because you don't have any use for presets doesn't mean no one has a use for them. I rarely if ever buy presets but I can skip over 4 posts without a problem.

Perhaps what we need is a separate thread for people to complain about the absence of a separate thread for preset sellers, and another separate thread for people to complain about the absence of a separate thread for retailers. In fact, what about a sub-forum for complaints about the Bargains chat thread? I feel we're losing sight of the real issue here, which is that everyone is ignoring my petition to rename the Bargains chat thread as the ProGastination thread.
