I've messed with it a bit, but not particularly seriously.
As long as you are only working in stereo and have fairly basic needs it can be made to work, just make sure you have the video file in a compatible format and File -> Load Video File to pull it in. There is no video track and it is one video per project/edit, so some of the more advanced capabilities of the DAWs which are more optimized for this are obviously missing.
If you need support for surround sound, or if this is something you will be doing a lot of and would benefit from a real video track, it is better to use one of Logic, Cubase or Digital Performer (though DP does not have a video track, it does support surround sound and can have multiple sequences within a project with a different video on each sequence; Cubase is the only one of these which supports having multiple videos on one video track).

You probably haven't quite grasped the idea.ON BEATS wrote: Mon Jul 25, 2022 2:10 pm It's probably easier exporting the music and using a dedicated video software program…
The main point is to compose the music with the edited video as a reference, so that you can set hit points, calculate tempi and tempo changes, et cetera. You create the music while watching the video, using dedicated features to facilitate the process.
It's not about editing video, it's about creating and editing music. Digital Performer is one of the DAWs with specialised tools for film composing and scoring.
If it were easy, anybody could do it!
