That's often the whole point of a free offering.

Imagine you in your day job, working for a few years. Imagine not getting paid, and you have make sure that food gets on your table, and you have a chance to do it by advertising, and then someone comes along and tells you that, if you offer your work for free, you should at least have the courtesy to not show any adverts as well.

You're free to pass on plugins which require you to sign up for an account. I do so regularly.
