I've a question about the possibility of Pro registered users being able to switch to the free version and back at will, perhaps by a switch in the Settings. I offer it as a suggestion for a tweak sometime, as long as it's not too complicated/messy.

I've a friend who lives 300 miles away and we only meet maybe once a year, but it'd be handy for collaborations if I could get him to use the latest free version (he's never going to get enough use out of any DAW for him to buy a full version) and if I could set my version to have the same restrictions as the free version so we can send each other updated projects.

I don't think it's currently possible. It might be useful for others too. I have tried registering as a Free user with a different email address, but it won't work on the same computer.

Settings -> Advanced -> Application, if it's the same in Waveform 12 as it was in 11.

Not sure what happens if you use plugins that aren't included in Free...

Thanks. I had to restart and then it wanted me to start a 30 day demo period. It says the Free version is locked. I'll try again when I've installed the latest version.

I'm sure you're right about the plug-ins. I had two edits open, so I closed them before changing the setting.

Hello,

I have Waveform 11 Pro installed and wanted to try Waveform 12 Free, but for some reason it keeps saying it's Unregistered and in Demo Mode. If I click to start the free trial it says all licenses are up to date and remains in Demo mode.

Any ideas ?

I got it now, apparently I missed the option under Advanced section where you can pick the Feature set, apparently it was set to Pro by default. After I chose Free now it shows-up as registered.

looks very similar to a bug they just fixed in the latest version of the Waveform 12 Pro beta. It had to do with a new licensing system they introduced in the previous beta which broke it in a very similar way to what you describe. they probably need to move the fix to the free version and make it available.
