Just been watching videos on this. Wow, this thing is pretty incredible.SLiC wrote: Mon Aug 15, 2022 4:47 pmhttps://granurise.com/Echoes in the Attic wrote: Mon Aug 15, 2022 4:34 pm Are there any granular synths in the Ableton ecosystem that are mpe compatible? I believe Granulator II is not and I don' think Grain Scanner is either.

Are there ways to get discontinued M4L Devices by the way? I might start using Live again for certain things, but would want Kapture. https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/kapture/
It says discontinued but is there something else that does global snapshots? Or is it possible to find discontinued devices and do they still work?

Hi everybody!
So for a recent show I used Ableton 11 Standard for playback (first time using it) and ran it off my M1 Max 64GB RAM Macbook Pro.
I had a weird situation where Ableton would randomly stutter, and an even weirder thing was that it would run at approximately 25% CPU. Granted, my session had over a 1000 tracks at 96/24. However, when I ported the exact same session over to my backup machine (2015 Intel Macbook Pro), it ran at no more than 10% the CPU, averaging at 7% CPU.
Anybody else have any idea on what could be wrong? I was running the 11.1 version of Ableton on the M1 Mac which is Apple Silicon native.

do you use max for live? it's way more 'open' w/access to all kinds of routing everywhere. not to mention a bunch of awesome new devices.
regardless of that.. there's a TON of stuff in live 11 that's new.
https://www.ableton.com/en/live/
variations in racks is amazing especially with something like markov variations from dillon bastan. you can morph between any macros of any devices or devices in a chain/group whatever etc etc.
there's a ton of stuff.. really.

All I can say is, compared to other DAWs, Ableton's optimization is shit. You either deal with it or look for another program.ssaudio_ wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:24 am Hi everybody!

Maybe, I use 2019 MBP 16" with Intel i7 and Live 11 goes tits up pretty quickly. Reaper handles everything I throw at it.

This may or may not help you, but I've heard from quite a few live operators, ie people who use Live as a playback / backing track tool, who, because of this, refuse to switch over to 11 and stay with 10. That version, in its current state, seems to be pretty rock rolid for live purposes. No idea if that is also the case when you run it in rosetta mode on an M1 machine, however.ssaudio_ wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:24 am Hi everybody!

Try with different buffer sizes. Low buffers seem to work better on M1 Macs.ssaudio_ wrote: Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:24 am Hi everybody!

Also depends if your plugins are M1 native too and using the Universal Live 11 edition.

are people really running 1000 tracks at 24/96 from a laptop? i mean.. i know there's situations where 1000 tracks happens in post or film or some live venue backing track situation but it sounds awfully complicated and anyone doing that for a living would have a rock solid solution that rarely changed or was rarely updated etc in order to maintain stability... and those people likely have a desktop solution in a server rack or isobox etc that gets wheeled around and set up as part of a tour/installation/live rig etc...
not saying that ssaudio's 1st post making it up or trolling but not saying i'm not suspicious either. i get it.. there are people doing amazing things with super high track counts for amazing productions of large scale events or they have a million options so they can adapt what happens to any situation... it just sounds like a nightmare and relying on a laptop.. any laptop... to do this seems like asking for trouble.
also, doing a live show on a new computer with software you're using for the 1st time??? and running 1000 tracks? masochistic to say the least.
