Bassline "save as preset" confusion

Hi there! I'm really hoping I posted this in the right place.
How on earth do you get expected results from "save as preset" for the pattern generator? Is there an in-depth tutorial on how to use this feature? I've read the manual, but it says almost nothing on this topic.
Example: I have this kind-of-arpeggio that I want to save and then reproduce, so I highlight the notes, click "save as preset", "bassline",
but then when I go to actually use the pattern generator, it completely changes the notes
What am I doing wrong? Or does this feature just not work?
Added context: I'm set to the scale Dphryg in case it turns out that's my mistake.

So I guess I didn't post in the right place. Is there any way to move this thread? Or delete it so I can repost it properly?

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purposeālargerāthanātheāself kind of understanding.
